Drawing with the brush creates jagged lines

To draw and stroke a path (very briefly)
(See images below, second image should be viewed first)

1. Open the Paths Dialogue.
Draw your path

2. Return to Layers Dialogue
Optional - Most often create a new layer for your line
Edit > Stoke Path
Change the parameters to get the effect you want.
