Export with hidden alpha channel
#1
Hi all, I have a question about alpha channels. When I click the eye icon next to the alpha channel of a layer to hide it, then export it to PNG, the exported image still has the alpha channel. However, removing the alpha channel entirely produces a different, unwanted result, turning the image blue-ish. This blueness is kept when exported.

Is there any way I can export my image to a PNG so that it looks like it does in GIMP with a hidden alpha channel?

Thanks!

That is a bit strange. How are you viewing the image ? Is it for some sort of game ? There was a post recently about dds files with overcast.

As you found just turning off the alpha channel visibility still gives a png with an active alpha channel.

What you can try is, turn the layer alpha -channel visibility off as before.
That is the image you want ?
In the layers dock, go to the top of the stack, then Layer -> New from Visible
Now export that as a PNG. It will still have an alpha channel.
Might work.
