Cleared all the cookies, caches, used different browsers ( with new profiles even), also a different machine ....
Still no GC

@pixlab: when you ping GC, what IP does it show?
ping gimpchat.com

mine shows: 170.249.238.146

It seems to be fixed ...
I'm back in!

I wonder how it could be ok for some and not for alll

If I use the TOR browser, a free proxy site or my mobile phone I can access GimpChat.
But using firefox I am not able. I have deleted the bookmark, cleared cookies and cache.

Update.

Self-inflicted, but I have yet to find the cause.
With the same version of Firefox on my laptop GC loads correctly.
On the desktop, in addition to clearing cookies, cache and bookmarks, I have tried creating a new profile, removed Firefox completely with Synaptic and re-installed.
The symptoms are that firefox takes several minutes before I get the message "HTTPS site unavailable" at which point it appears to have timed out and I can't go to the HTTP site.

I will keep digging!!!

If it can help, about the secure httpS, GC does not have any certificate, so yeah, only http, no https, we are ALL using http only and their server does not have a redirect (.htaccess alike) if you tried https Wink

Patrice,

Thanks for the reply.
One of the many things I had already tried!

I copied all the settings from my (working) laptop to the desktop without success. They both have the same version of Ubuntu and Firefox.

Hi David,

Next won't help, but maybe it's an IP problem (stop your router wait for a while like overnight and restart it or use a proxy/VPN, or log-in from your phone with data on?)

Why I'm thinking this, I found the meaning of "wwh_id" (Who Was Here ID) and in that table there is the user IP > https://www.phpbb.com/community/download...?id=135124

Below is the thread, I know you can't do a thing from your side, but... why not triggering something in the GC data base by changing your IP before connecting to GC?

Patrice,

Thanks for the suggestion.
Re-booted the router which negotiated a different IP but the same result.
My laptop and phone will both open GC and they communicate through the same router.
I will keep investigating but no problem, I have other ways to open it.
