HELP! My tablet is lagging when I draw new lines!
#1
Whenever I start a new line, my tablet has a jump where it doesn't track my pen's movement. It results in really awkward curves and is proving to be very frustrating. It doesn't seem to be a Gimp exclusive problem however, but I don't know where else to turn for help. I have included a video of the occurance: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XVu24-iZuzU

For the Gimp setup. You could check that the dynamic setting is not the cause, set it to none and see if any difference.

edit: Which version of Gimp? Have you installed the latest Wacom driver?

I tried turning it off, and I still have the same issue :(

My Gimp version is 2.1.18, and I also have the newest Wacam drivers.

There was a bug where the rulers caused a brush lag. Try turning off the rulers from menu View -> Show rulers.

edit:
apparently you have to turn the rulers off in
Edit -> Preferences -> Image Windows -> Appearance -> untick in Default Appearance in Normal Mode / Full screenmode.

AFAIK fixed in the most recent Gimp 2.8.22 from http://www.gimp.org It is worth upgrading.

Generally recognised that tablet support in Gimp 2.8 is not wonderful. Gimp 2.6 will co-exist with Gimp 2.8 and might be better with your tablet. Gimp .xcf files will open in either.

Otherwise, do not know. Need a Windows (10 ?) user with a Wacom Intuos

Still no luck :(

I tried going back to 2.6, and upgrading to the newest version. It does appear to be only a problem with Gimp, as the lag doesn't occur in other apps.

edit: added a video of how this bug affects drawing https://youtu.be/gJYKT7ubEY0

Maybe someone can come up with something, looks like it is specific to your installation.

That last video is too quick to give much information. Gimp 2.6 from the brushes so no brush dynamics to consider. Clipping the video to frames and it looks like it takes 1.5 seconds for the brush to act. This is the brush path over 45 frames.

Clutching at straws and a really old post, brush lag blamed on colour management.

You might want to try that and also ask the question over there.
