I installed from package manager but it installed 2.10 as default.

How Can Install Gimp versiyon 3.0 on Garuda ( Arch) Linux.

There is no GIMP 3.0 yet.
At best there is 2.99.8 which is in testing state available from gimp.org, so not to be used for daily work.

As Nelo, No version 3 yet. It looks like Arch supports flatpak so you could experiment with that while keeping a stable Gimp 2.10.x

Not difficult, a flatpak install gimp gives options then just follow the prompts.

   

One snag is the size, nearly 1 GB for all the parts.

There is no Gimp version 3

There are development versions 2.99.x leading to a Gimp 3 release. Still some way off. see: https://wiki.gimp.org/wiki/Roadmap

In use , there is no great difference between Gimp 2.10.24 and Gimp 2.99 Some small additions. If you want to use Gimp use the 2.10.24 version.

Since most of Gimp is based on GEGL and 2.10and 3.00 are on the same GEGL, there is functionally little difference between the two versions as delivered.

But considering that many scripts/plugins haven't been ported to the new Gimp interface, one can argue that there is less function available in 2.99 right now if you consider the add-ons.

I think only if you use the flatpak Gimp 2.10.x which provides python2 support, otherwise you can find Gimp is limited.

If using a linux that provides Gimp 2.10.24 from their repo then python2 and all those old plugins are dust. Ubuntu 20.04 a fine example of this. There are ways around this at the moment but I wonder for how long.

AFAIK same with the snap version from 'buntu. No python2 support.
