Installation freezes on create restore point

Hello,

I'm trying to install GIMP 3.0.2 on my Windows 11 pro laptop. However the installer freezes while the create restore point is performed, as you can see on the below screenshot. Moving the form or clicking on the Cancel button do nothing, and I wait for a long time (more than 2 hours), nothing more happened.

The only way was to kill the installer.

Can you please tell me how to resolve that?

P.S: This never happened with any previous GIMP version I installed. I also installed the exact same version successfully on a secondary Windows 10 laptop.

I also have this exact same problem; installer stalls on "Create restore point" on my Windows 10 system. Would appreciate a solution if available. Thank you!

I encountered the same issue. 
Solved it by running the installl file as administrator, then chose install only for me (recommended) and there was no restore point creation window at all.

I too encountered the same issue. Windows 11 Enterprise, 23H2. I already tried to run as administrator, doesn't help; still trying to create a restore point and freezes there. I have version 3.0.0 installed already, and that is installed for all users, so that may be the reason it doesn't give the option now. I need it installed for all users though, so installing only for me is not an option.
