Installing Gimp on Mac to replace Photoshop
#1
Hey folks,
So I'm a Mac user who has had Photoshop cs4 for the last ten years.

(I'm an artist and hobby / small biz user who sells on Etsy and redbubble)
But a few weeks ago my old iMac died so I've brought a new one and guess what... Cs4 isn't supported on the Catalina OS. Great.

Gimp is recommended as the best free alternative, but for my print work I would need a CMYK plugin?
Is this possible for Mac? If so can someone point me in the right direction please! (I'm a designer but not a techie so I stumped!!)

Thanks

First of all Gimp is 100% RGB editor.

There is a stand-alone + associated Gimp plugin for macOS
http://cyan.fxarena.net/ and https://github.com/rodlie/cyan/releases/tag/1.2.2
I know this works in linux, might work for you. Best you will get is a final export in a CMYK color-space. (or you can open and convert to RGB a CMYK image) All comes with change in gamut for bright colours.

A better bet is Krita and then work 100% in CMYK, also does conversions between colour-spaces.
Maybe try https://krita.org/en/item/krita-nightly-...for-macos/

Thankyou, I'll look into it... I'm lost without my photoshop and so angry that I now have an expensive yet worthless piece of software!

Same here mate.. I had PS CS5 and when i installed MacOS Big Sur it was gone. So angry.. Now I installed Gimp 2.10 but its far away from PS i guess.. especially when you are used to it since 15 years back.
