They can switch to WebP

I did a try and... (I was aware about animated webP, but never tried)
Woww!
You just convinced me, size and look compared to gif is like comparing stone edge and nowadays.
I also learned that WebP supports 24-bit RGB color with an 8-bit alpha channel, compared to GIF's 8-bit color and 1-bit alpha ➤ Thus a way better image quality.

GIF ➤ 190 kB

WebP ➤ 56 kB only...

.webp   Untitled.webp (Size: 55.14 KB / Downloads: 125)

Thanks guys for the wake up Smile

EDIT: do all webp showing a link on GF instead of an image...? You might need to update your website to show animated (or not?) webp directly in the post... that's a bit of a bummer to be obliged to click on the link... (in the end, may be it's websites slowing down the switch to webp... Big Grin )
Also it could have been better to see the comparison on the same post/page Wink
