Photo Restoration
#1
A few old photo restoration libraries on GitHub. Maybe someone will make it work

https://github.com/microsoft/Bringing-Ol...ck-to-Life

https://github.com/Time-Travel-Rephotogr....github.io

https://github.com/Mark1708/beautify-old-photo

Not sure how to use them without making the photos leave the computer

They all have local versions but I may wait for a long rainy weekend to try them. Also, they possibly require a decent NVidia GPU.

I tried with an old photo and the results were great. But patches are often ignored. I don't think there is no way yet to fix them the right way.

I wanted to restore some old photos. Trying the above links, I only got the following message:

I found another:

https://photobooth.online/en-us/photo-restoration

Experiences:

1. Does amazingly good work for faces. The example photo in denzjos' post was done at least equally well.
2. Otherwise does not do much. Does not correct damages even if the site seems to promise it.
3. Seems to have restriction to 2000x2000 pixels. Bigger photos are scaled down silently.
4. Even for faces, it is good to do some work before-hand, like removing dust marks and such.
5. Sometimes makes mistakes in faces. Look at the eyes of the child below!

In this copy of the picture, even zooming in you cannot see clearly what is happening in the eye. But I think that from a closed eye it is trying to construct an open eye, making an extra iris.

@Ottia Tuota, thanks for another link. I gave it a try with a photo from Toitoine ( from Coline & Toitoine) :
