Not sure what you require.
The tiles filter repeats the image as many times as you set.
50x50 (cm) you want 150x150 (cm) then Gimp can do the arithmetic for you.
In either of the size entries use 50*3 then ok and you get a new tiled image 3 rows wide x 3 row high.

If you want a seamless repeatable tile, then that is something else.
1. Filters -> Map -> Make seamless gives a tile which fills like this: https://i.imgur.com/z4W3d0R.jpg
2. The resynthesize plugin (if you have it installed, do not know for OSX) makes a seamless tile that fills like this: https://i.imgur.com/1r7Vsmu.jpg
..but that is a big image you have for tiling, whichever way.
