Vector files
#1
I have notice recently that these can be opened on Gimp. I have only tried it with 3RC1 so do not know if this was always a thing.
I assume once this file is worked on it will change into a bitmap/rastor image? Please set me straight.

I used vector files when I did vinyl cutting. Only the outside of an image/object is needed for lettering on signs etc. Normal images are more interested in the content of an image.

After loading you can find them as path(s), so as vector
