Why no text justify?
#1
Hi. Using the latest version. Can anyone explain why the devs haven’t implemented text justification yet? I see the option is there in the alignment choices, but it doesn’t function. I found a short article (not sure how old) that explained the option had been added as a placeholder, but never implemented. What’s the problem??

No developers on this forum. Not even as visitors.

What version of Gimp are you using ? edit ok I see your other post - 2.10.24

Requests for enhancements go to https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gimp/issues

Works here Gimp 2.10.22 - have one long line of text, no line breaks - make a fixed text box not a dynamic box - apply justification.

Edit: Like this: One long line of text in text editor. Copy it.
Paste into Gimp ctrl-V for speed. No good using dynamic box, open a fixed box. Paste - apply justification - adjust text box.

Ah. I think the mistake I was making was having line breaks. I had three lines of text and was trying to justify. I see now I should have omitted the line breaks and set the desired width with the text box.

Thanks for explaining.

You should get it, although you might have to do some spacing by hand. Gimp is not a word processing application so text handling is a bit rudimentary. However it is worth a more detailed look, busy working a short (hate the word tutorial) explanation of what is possible.

A bit about it here: https://www.gimp-forum.net/Thread-Gimp-2...tification

It works with line breaks as well, (Shift + Enter)
once all your text is in the box, just move the handles of the text "box" near the end of a sentence and everything will be justified
