curious, this looks like some sort of glitchy transformation.
maybe crossing into generative art. I wonder.

No i mean generative art as in using algorithm to create art, not AI like machine learning.
There's a whole subreddit dedicated to it in /r/generative

I went to /r/generative ; I recognize that it is very attractive, but I don't know how I could introduce this into my activity, not knowing programming. In fact I am quite incapable of writing the slightest line of program, which is a limit, I admit; all my creations are made "by hand", which requires me to note each step if I want to be able to reproduce an effect (for example the pleating) or if I have to explain to someone how I went about creating an image; especially since Gimp does not have a non-destructive layer ! I'll take a closer look at /r/generative; maybe I will find some tips there. Thanks again for introducing me to this site.

If you describe your process in steps, i volunteer to write your plug-ins that will do it in one go (for GIMP 2.10)
yeah r/generative i think many people on there learn Python or some Javascript. Once you have enough steps of your own described steps translated to python you might be able to pick up on how to program. If your process involves manual selections of shapes, then we could automate the process in between the manual selections.

Hi, Trandoductin,
as you like pleating, I'll try to give the process of the Curtain on Beach; but I precise the settings are specific to each image; it seems difficult to automate. I tried to apply the advice of PixLab and Offnut (499x330px and 90%); I don't know what it will give. 1.First an ordinary photo of windturbine in RAW, of course: 2. I apply in Canon DPP4 my original tonal composition "Gilding" 3.In Gimp, normal map 180 in luminance : 4.then, bump map 0.76 20 subtract 5.finally, for the pleating base, despeckle 30 -1 256 6. return to the step 2: despeckle 6 75 219 7. big cleaning of this second image: 8. The published image
