i try to place guide lines in centimeters (cm) or millimeters (mm) but that doesn't work
i have been working with gimp for a long time on an amateur basis but i never knew how to set it. yes on precent but not on mm or cm
how can this be solved?
software of gimp is 3.0. 2 and runs on a windows 11

At the bottom of the window, set the measurement unit to cm or mm instead of pixels.

   

You have of course to set the image definition properly (and unset View > Dot for dot if you measure things on screen). See Image size in Gimp for details.

And remember that you can't have fractional pixels, so for instance Gimp may round your value (3.00cm) to the nearest pixel (2.997cm)
