#11
No worries, i can wait until there is a better installer.

I dont have Program Files...i have Programs and Programs (x86).
Both 2.8 and 2.10 are installed in Programs.

Regarding the missing icons, you could try the full Legacy Icon theme I created to solve the same problem for someone else: https://www.gimp-forum.net/Thread-User-I...73#pid8773

I'm guessing the the Windows package creator hasn't yet actioned the solution found in the Issue: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gimp/issues/1563

That doesnt fix it...
I downloaded the files and extracted them into this folder
C:\Users\Christian\AppData\Roaming\GIMP\2.10\icons

Started Gimp, icons still missing...

Please tell me you put them into a Folder in the icons directory then selected that folder in the Icon Theme Preferences?

Just a note: The Windows Gimp 2.10.4 installer has been fixed.

The download is now gimp-2.10.4-setup-1.exe

Trying to replicate the missing icons, without any success. Using a Windows 7 64 bit (VM)

This a screenshot with Gimp 2.8 and Gimp 2.10 installed, same as Kevin, you should check that the preferences folder icon paths actually point to where Gimp is installed.

I forgot - you also need to copy the hicolor directory from your GIMP installation icons directory into your personal icons directory

And to judge from his the comment on the Issue, it's going to be a while before the Windows installer creator is going to be able to fix it: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gimp/issues/1563

allright, so i downloaded the new gimp-2.10.4-setup-1.exe
installed it without uninstalling the existing 2.10.4 version

the icons were still missing, but when i followed Kevin's advice and copied the 'hicolor' folder to my personal icons directory,
the icons turned up !

everything seems fine now

what a time to be alive !
