in my gimp-writhings i have way too much distance in the lines ... can we narrow this down a bit?

Two instances which might occur

(1) The overall line spacing setting in the Text Tool Options

   

(2) Selected text and the line spacing options in the on canvas dialogue.

   

Either case reset the line spacing to zero.
