  Radius color to transparency overlay
Posted by: jayhova - 02-01-2019, 10:15 PM - Forum: General questions - Replies (2)

I'm trying to create a sort of overhead circular glow effect. Imagine looking down on a lamp from overhead and seeing a yellow or white glow that falls off with distance. I would like to lay this over an existing image of a map. I would the effect to be transparent Strongly colorizing the map at the center of the effect and falling off toward the edge of the effect like a radiant gradient. I'm far from a GIMP expert.

  Script-Fu hung
Posted by: Ritergeek - 02-01-2019, 06:45 PM - Forum: Extending the GIMP - Replies (2)

I've been having a fine time fiddling around in GIMP 2.10.8 with various layer effects to get a feel for how they work. While I was setting up an inner shadow using Script-Fu, the options window vanished. I might have clicked something about color.

At that point I cpuld run other layer effects via Layer Effects, but when I tried to run the Clothify filter, I got an error message that "Script-Fu cannot process two scripts at the same time. You are already running the "Inner Shadow" script. This was obviously stuck inside GIMP. The file I used the script in had already been closed.

I finally solved this by saving the active file and restarting GIMP. Now everything is working fine and I cannot replicate the problem.

Any other suggestions for closing a stuck script without restarting GIMP should this happen again?

  Characters interface too small
Posted by: charlie84 - 02-01-2019, 04:01 PM - Forum: OSX - Replies (8)

Hello everyone, it's my first post.

I've been using Gimp (2.8 - 2.10) for a while, but I have problems with the 27 "(2560 x 1440) screen of my iMac. For my eyes, the fonts of the interface have become too small. I tried to change the screen resolution but the result did not like. I'm looking for a configuration file where I can edit a bigger font size. I also asked for other forums but I did not find a solution.
Thank you.

How to save and repeat layer effects to a different image
Posted by: allie - 01-31-2019, 05:19 PM - Forum: General questions - Replies (3)

I'm not sure what the correct terminology is in GIMP.

That said, here's what I want to do.  Supposing I've used a number of layer effects (so, filter effects to a number of layers) to some text.

I would like to be able to somehow save those effects (or that group of effects) to apply to some different text in some different image at some other time.

So I make "ALLIE", apply some effects, and want to save those effects so that I can apply them to the text "OOPSKI", independent of the font used in the first image with "ALLIE".

Maybe I just like the effects and want to use them on a selected squiggle that I created witha brush.  I just want to be able to save that particular group (?) of effects, to use later on something else.

Hope that makes sense.

TIA,
Allie

  Select/Delete path nodes plugin?
Posted by: akovia - 01-30-2019, 11:42 PM - Forum: Extending the GIMP - Replies (8)

Would it ever be possible to create a plugin to use regular selection or paint tools to select actual path nodes and not just strokes like the delete strokes plugin?

Just wondered if there is something inherent about gimp that would prevent that type of plugin.

Cheers

  Text to path issue
Posted by: SicSS - 01-30-2019, 07:35 PM - Forum: General questions - Replies (2)

Hello,
I did a quick search through google, YouTube, and here.
But I could not find anyone having the same problem as I am.
I am creating a round logo, and in the logo is going to be a name that is round as well. When I put the text "text to path", it does not put the text on the line, but rather an inch away from the line. It is still circular, just not on the path.
Is this a setting that has changed? I have made round logos before and never had an issue, and I do not recall making any setting changes.
Can anyone help here?

How can I adjust the size and intensity of a lens flare?
Posted by: Audrey Hossain - 01-30-2019, 07:49 AM - Forum: General questions - Replies (1)

I know there is a lens flare option in the filters section, but the option only allows me to modify the position of the flare, is there any way to modify the intensity and size of the flare?

  Language
Posted by: Markus Josephus - 01-30-2019, 03:44 AM - Forum: General questions - Replies (2)

I searched but did not find my answer to this:
I am in China using a Windows 10 PC running the o/s in simplified Chinese. I cannot change the operating system language. I downloaded GIMP 2.10 and specified English; however, during installation, due to my o/s, it installed in Chinese. My Chinese is not good enough to use the program in it. I would like to switch the language of the program to English. Can this be done? How? Thanks!
