Gimp 2.10 has me a little puzzled - kmk55 - 09-15-2018
Hi, I am not new to Gimp but I only downloaded and installed the latest version2.10 today. I just wanted to ask about a couple of things, one being--How would I go about changing the new black background to a light theme? That dark background with white text hurts my eyes ; I have developing cataracts which only makes matters worse. Also--What does this error message mean? "The procedure entry point pthread_setname_np could not be located in the dynamiclink library C:\Program Files\Gimp 2\32\bin\libglib-2.0-0.dll." I get this every time I start up Gimp. It runs OK otherwise, but the message is annoying. Can I do something to get rid of it? - Thanks

Did you try changing the "theme" (Edit/Preferences)

You can also adjust the size of the icons see: https://www.gimp-forum.net/Thread-Gimp-2-10-0-icon-size
There is a screenshot that might help.

Did you upgrade from a previous, Gimp 2.8 version? There are probably old files left over or copied from C:\Users\your-name\.gimp-2.8
Gimp 2.10 uses a hidden folder 'Appdata' if you need to unhide this see:
https://www.windows10themes.net/guides/how-to-view-the-appdata-folder-in-windows-10/
then check / delete contents of C:\Users\your-name\AppData\Roaming\GIMP\2.10\plug-ins

Yes, my previous version was 2.8. I found the AppData folder and the gimp plugins folder. Should I delete all of what’s in it? My latest download of G’Mic is in there. Could I leave that and delete the dll files below it?

Yes, delete all the files in it. There is a specific gmic for Gimp 2.10 https://gmic.eu/download.shtml the 2.8 gmic does not work.
Get the installer, it correctly installs all the files to a sub-folder of plug-ins and works straight away.
Any other plugins will still be in C:\Users\your-name\.gimp-2.8\plug-ins Copy them over one or two at a time and try them out. Not all old plugins work with Gimp 2.10
