Stitching images seamless animation

I am looking to make an animated caustic map. I know pretty much how to make it but need it placed perfectly. I need to put an image 256x256 image on lower left of my canvas, then place another 256x256 image on the right side of the first image and continue for 8 images, then add another line starting on the the left for a tota of 8 lines with each line having 8 256 x 256 images, so when finished will be one giant image. Is there a way to get the images to snap into the correct space? I am having a little trouble getting them exactly placed.

Look at the image, zoom in They are stitched perfectly. When I try I get a few right some off. There are only 64 images I need to do, 8 images and 8 lines. Having a hard time trying to post an image. I already have all 64 images in another file I just need to combine them in an 8 by 8 I tried manually but some are off a bit.

All sorts of ways, the align tool in groups of 10 but very tedious.

Then there is one of Ofnuts scripts: ofn-tiles http://sourceforge.net/projects/gimp-too...s/scripts/ ofn-tiles.zip (dated 2020-08-16) unzip and check the html usage file.

However the layer numbering is crucial, a straight 0 to 99 will assemble but left to right in sequence, so tile numbering as described in the plugin html doc is needed.

Got the number of rows and columns wrong Wink used 10x10 instead 8x8 (not paying attention) however just the same.

That vid worked,odd how it was published today. The only problem is the order of the images. I have tried several times to playback, at 8 frames playback jumps like it is skipping rows. Next I will try to number the images so I can see the order, even though order of images looks okay when I am making that tileable texture.
I will get it right soon.Thanks that was exactly what I needed.

Well I did it in response to your post and there is a time zone difference to take into account Wink A lot unsaid in order to keep a sensible length.

The order of images in the stack is not essential but makes things easier. Toggle visibility to select layers before align 'rubber banding' bearing in mind top-to-bottom sorting. Need bottom left to right and up-over. When increasing the canvas size, position the stack in the bottom left corner and use a negative offset in the align tool. Play with the align distribution options. I have to confess, not my favourite Gimp tool.

I figured out what the problem was, My program reads the files in a certain order so I used G.I.M.P. to flip the tiled texture and it worked great. Thanks

I was just wondering since you know gimp. How did you make those textures in the vid? I made mine by adding a caustic tile I found on the net placing on a plane in a 3d program then moving the plane in front of a camera, and recording it, so I would get many textures for my animated texture. If you have time how did you make yours?
