I also tried to save it as a pdf but it still gets distorted in a different way.
I'm using Pop_Os!
First the Gimp back.xcf It is a bit over-the-top 32 bit Floating Point, and there is an active over-large selection, larger than the canvas. No reason for that, turn it off.
I can confirm that strange doubling of back_final.psd image when opened in PhotoPea, but I think that is a PhotoPea issue, the same open in an actual Photoshop. screenshot

It is 16 bit, and marked as CMYK,RGB,16bit I have not come across that mix before. The Channels dock (and imagemagick identify) tells me it is RGB.
Is your intention is a CMYK image for printing purposes ? Various ways to make it, I use a Gimp plugin CYAN and 8 bit precision is good enough. In PS screenshot:

That opens in PhotoPea as:
It identifies in PhotoPea as CMYK but Channels shows RGB. PhotoPea is not Photoshop any more than Gimp is.
cmyk-8bit.psd will open in Gimp and converts to RGB as normal. Gimp 2.10.34 will not yet open a 16bit PS CMYK file. (but you can import 16 bit using the CYAN plugin)
That is all about I can deduce at the moment from your images. Keep posting, someone will have other solutions.
