A plug-in I'm developing (in pythonfu), which does batch processing on multiple xcf files, performs several times faster when I use ~3 threads compared to when I use all my CPU threads (32) or some good percentage of it (24). Not sure why, I guess either the RAM or SSD drive is choking when I use too many threads.
Right now I can control the number of threads by going in Gimp's preferences but I would like to keep it high when I use Gimp's interface and low for my plug-in, so I would need a way to change or override it from within the code of my plug-in, so as to not do it manually every time I use it.
I didn't find a config file where this could be changed via text replacement, nor did I find any command for it.
Also I can't do it by forcing the entire plug-in to use less threads because it contains a progress bar which needs some CPU power in order to not freeze.
Somehow I messed up my screen layout. Now I have two side panels on each side of the working area. Before there was only one column on each side. It still provides the same functionality but uses extra space limiting my working area. I prefer the way it was before but can't figure out how to get the display like it was before.
It somehow happened after installation of my new 32 in IPS monitor and using the 27 as a second monitor. I don't see how this would change my Gimp display. I did try to open a new view for the second monitor but so far haven't been able to get something useful.
My concern is the change in layout in Gimp losing working space.
Can you please help me with the correction of the photo when there is a sun shining on the part of the face.
I have this part of photo when I see to much sun and it making shadow areas. The rest of the face is in shadow so instead of removing the shadow, I would need to remove just this piece of unwanted reflection and make the half of the forehead simliar to the other one.
Do you have idea if this can be corrected or I can just get rid of this photo?
I have a problem since the last update to 2.10.28 with another error. It says unable to match the colors. Do you also recommend a de- and new-installation
Hello! This is my first post here but I'll try to be as clear as possible.
So, I'm running GIMP 2.10.28 and am not able to access the brush editor options. I just updated GIMP yesterday and only just now attempted to edit the brush size. Not sure if this happened from the update or what.
I have tried the following:
- Resetting tool options
- Closing GIMP and restarting my PC
- Closing and reopening the brush editor tab
- Trying out of various brushes.
Maybe there is something really obvious that I'm missing, but I have attached a screen shot of the brush editor.
While the hardness adjustment looks like I might be able to adjust it, I cannot. I also saw another post on a different forum that did not seem to have a resolution, but their screenshot was almost identical in that the amount that Radius, Hardness, and Spacing were greyed out was the same.
Thank you in advance for any suggestions of resolutions...Even if it's that I'm just missing something incredibly obvious.
Well, I guess all I had to do was ask and I figured it out . I believe that I was missing something obvious. I guess the brushes there are presets. What I needed to do was create a new brush, name it, and select it.
If this is at all helpful to anyone, great. But if the admins think it should be deleted, my feelings will not be hurt.
Just getting started with GIMP, sorry for the newbie question LOL. I can paste an object and initially move it, scale it, etc. But when I go back and re-select (rectangular selection) that same area for a move it grabs the object but it also grabs the whole canvas. How can I keep from selecting / moving the canvas?
I'm trying to create a new palette, but keep getting this error message:
Failed to save data:
You have a writable data folder configured (/Users/debrawilcox/Library/Application Support/GIMP/2.10/palettes), but this folder does not exist. Please create the folder or fix your configuration in the Preferences dialog's 'Folders' section.
I called AppleCare, but they said it was a GIMP issue. I tried re-installing GIMP, but am still getting the error. Does anyone know what I should do to correct this?
I am an old man, not used to do much with programs such as Gimp, but I had someone asking me to create a left-right-left-right moving object, using a GIF file with special effect.
How do I do this?
Been looking on Google for nigh the whole darn day, but nowhere I found, how to make a "KITT Scanner" or, if you prefer, Anamorphic Equalizer, according to Wiki (looked this up, as it might be, I could find a tutorial under this name, alas).
I learned, it are 8 leds moving from end to end and back, looping in a "block style" light per light), and this is what was asked.
However, as I an completely nuts, I want to do something odd: I want to make a a smooth moving abstract animation, since I always have been one to make things a tad personal.
