This problems bugs me so often, I decided to post a question here.

I usually correct the whiteness of the pictures by using Level / Pick white point tool.

However, so often the "whiteness" of the picture changes gradually over the picture.  Is it possible to correct "whiteness" gradually all over the picture?

Hi,
   I've been trying to do something you can see in the image:(click here, please).
   Because I didn't know how to make the effect with GIMP, I did it with Inkscape. Then I copied the result on Gimp, added shadow and, more or less, I could get what I wanted.
   However, I have to do the same with several images and I wonder if there is already a filter, extension or something that can do it automatically.
   If not, I'd like to know if everything can be done easily with Gimp and, of course, how.

I want to scale a 1600 x 1200 image to 4800 x 3600 with little to no quality loss, I'm currently using GIMP 2.10.14. Any tips?

I am running Linux Mint 19.3 XFCE.  I installed Gimp with my software manager and the menu has a font size that is too tiny to read.  I thought that maybe it would help to run a more recent version of Gimp so I removed the Gimp 2.8 and downloaded and installed GIMP 2.10.18.  But the font is still too small.  Below is my laptop information.  I tried to do an Internet search trying to find out how to fix this problem and there are countless "solutions" and I ended up having to re-install my operating system after I had it so screwed up I couldn't fix what I had messed up.  I thought I'd come to this forum and ask for help before I screw my computer up again.  Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

I am working on a project and I need to turn 4 lists of about 400 words into images. Is there a script that exists to do this already? If not does anyone have suggestions on making one do this?

I also want to mention that I am super green when it comes to GIMP, I used photoshop a lot in school but drifted away from it.

I feel as if I needed a little dingy and ended up getting some sort of super-tanker!  

What is the best way to get to grips with what GIMP has to offer?  I'm not a professional photographer or anything like that - I just want to be able to manipulate photos and images for use on my blog.


I also have a more specific question that I'd like to ask.

I'm trying to create a title bar image for use on my blog pages.  Nothing fancy, just a rectangle with rounded corners and a gradient colour.  The problem I'm having is being able to save just the image (and not the background).  I have done some digging and tried to find a solution to this but it didn't work - I added an alpha channel (whatever one of those is!), inverted the selection and pressed delete.  This changed the background to the checkered pattern that I was expecting.  I then exported the image in png format.  All well and good I thought.  However, when I open the image it still has a white background!  What am I doing wrong?

Updated an old plugin. It allows you to define sets of guides that you use often to add then to the image with one single action (menu entry and optionally keyboard shortcut).

So I'm trying to connect the paths or nodes, and from what I have read and watched, you simply press ctrl and click on the node. However when I do that, a small menu pops up (photo is attached) How do I connect the paths?

I'm running GIMP 2.10 and my Macbook air is High Sierra.

Hi guys! I've been trying to get a proper selection/inverted selection to crop out in Gimp 2.10 for about two hours now. I've done all the advice I've seen on a variety of forums: press Enter to activate selection, deactivate/activate Opencl, all that jazz. But it still doesn't work. Any clue why? Maybe I'm doing something wrong with the layers, but since I'm very new to Gimp, I'd value any piece of information I can get.

PS: I've included a screenshot of what I was trying to do. Essentially, I wanted to invert select to crop out the image around the selection (main figure) but every time I tried, I'd get the exact same image, only slightly cut out on the border.

I'm a french guy, newly registered on the website.
I have finished today a Scheme script to make a 25 frames animation with falling snow effect :

Exemple with the default parameters below:



With flakes Opacity on 70/100 :



Another exemple with first flakes size 1 and 7 layers of flakes :



With difference size between two layers set on level 2 instead of 1 in previous exemples :



With Wind force = 1 :



With Wind force = 2 :



With Wind force = 3 :



Wind force can be set in the other direction using -1 -2 and -3 values.

Falling snow effect can also be applied on selected parts, and you can use special lightning effects using layers mode and opacity.
Animation display automatically open in the end of script to show what it looks.

Tell me what you think about this script, and if i can better it.
