I'm using gimp to create digital art-most of the art is abstract and full of colours.I thought to start selling digital art on Etsy-I sell digital file and people print it by themselves. I'm aware that CMYK is the printing standard and gimp doesn't work well with it. My question is if I work with gimp and save jpg files with RGB 300 dpi-if it will be ok when people will print it-or it's a bad idea and from a professional point of view I should think of purchasing photoshop? I'm worried about the difference of colours of what people see on the screen and what comes in the printing and also resolutions issues.what would be your advice to me? My wish is to go with gimp because I know it well and it is free.

pressure/line size with tablet |

I'm using a graphics tablet (Huion H610pro) with gimp (2.8.22) and I am having problems with getting pen pressure to affect brushstroke. Pen pressure/line thickness works fine on the tablet's trial window. Pen pressure also affects brushstroke opacity in gimp when 'Pressure Opacity' is checked in Dynamics Options in the paintbrush tool options. But I don't want to vary opacity, I want to vary thickness. So I have made two new dynamics, one by creating a new dynamic and the other by editing a copy of an existing dynamic. In both of them the size/pressure box is checked and no other box is checked. The ratio graph is the usual straight line from minimum size/minimum pressure to maximum size/maximum pressure. Neither of those two new dynamics works. Any suggestions?

non-destructive editing |

I got a book by James Carren recently and it talks about non-destructive editing I am assuming he is refering to photoshop. Can you do adjustment layers in gimp? There was another type of layer that had to be copied over because it couldn't be in an adjustment layer it was for highlights and shadows adjustments. Can you do that in gimp too?
What I mean by non-destructive editing is that if you decide you don't want a certain correction but it is behind a ton of other corrections in the history it doesn't remove the others as well.
Where is there an tutorial on how to do this in gimp?

Hi
i have a question about a jpg setting in GIMP : "use estimated quality" or "use original picure quality settings"
If I change jpg quality (90 to 95 by exemple), choose optimize and progressive options, what about "use estimated quality" ?
thanks

I'm doing my first photo restoration, and have come across a problem. I know how to remove the background (sort of), but some of the subjects have helmets the same colour as the background, which is the problem. I've tried turning to black and white, but it wasn't much help. Here's the photo.

Can I automate Gimp? + How to make shortcuts? |

Can I write a macro for example and automate using a combination of tools?
AND... how can I make shortcuts?
It's painful using the menu for some really basic and simple things!
Like I select something that I wanted deleted.
I have to go to the image menu... or is it file? Oh no... it must be edit...
Now... despite having done 10 times already... what is it that I'm looking for?????????
Aha! Clear!! I click clear.
Painful.
Why cant I just select and hit delete?
Thanks.

How to add shadow - and make as good as Photoshop |

In Photoshop...
I take an image, copy all...
Create a new image (with transparent background) that is 10 pixels bigger all around...
Paste the copied image.
Add a shadow all around the pasted layer - with zero distance and 5 pixels spread
Save as a PNG.
I've tried and tried doing the same in Gimp.
Grrr... no luck.
The shadows I get are pants Smile
Nowhere near as subtle as Photoshop.
I went back and looked at other videos...
These involved making masks and other things...
I'm happy to do that (if I have to)
My thoughts were: it's just such a basic task adding a shadow around an object...
Why is it sooo painful to do?
(Errr.... I'm guessing it's not painful at all and I've just not watched the right videos on youtube.)
Thanks.
