I'm still using version 2.8.22.
I had the answer to this but don't remember.
Which file do we get rid of to cure the problem of fonts searching slowly when gimp is opened (every time).
Thanks in advance for helping an old geezer.

It seems that the thumbnails folder location has been changed since Gimp 2.10 came out.
Please advise as to where the folder is located for the following OS's:-
1. Ubuntu Linux
2. MacOS
3. Windows 10

Hello all,
Is there any way to remove GIMP comments from files via script?
I have quite a lot of them and opening and removing each single one would be rather tedious work.
Thanks for ideas

How To Remove Dotted Yellow Lines on Expand Canvas?

Sorry to keep coming back with my minor queries - honestly I'm making progress and soon should be able to motor along without bothering anyone...
But: I made an image by pasting onto one image another taken from elsewhere.
The second was bigger than the first.
So I found that menu choice to expand the canvas to fit. Exactly what I wanted. So I did it.
And it worked lovely. But it shows dotted yellow indicating where the previous canvas edges where.
I thought saving it might get rid of them or 'select none' but neither did.
One simple keystroke somewhere I'm sure... but where?

Can I Change Default Appearance?

I just downloaded and set up 2.10.2 on this machine and the appearance was all this modern trendy black screen with white letters. No good to me.
Found the way to change it to 'grey' or 'white' and chose white.
That's about 75% okay. All the tool icons are too faint to see without straining.
Can I somehow switch back to the old fashioned appearance?

Cropping around hair...

Hey Gimpers:
I’ve been using Gimp for a couple of years, on and off, mostly for layering photos and using a layer mask for cropping. I still have trouble cropping around hair, especially around woman’s hair that is always curly and wispy. I struggle with extreme magnification and one of the fuzzy brushes trying to pick out individual locks of hair and depending on the background shade, sometimes it works. But most times I end up with a woman’s head that looks like it has been cut out with kindergarten scissors.
Any advise or hints about cropping around hair would be much appreciated. Or maybe a way of filling in the background so it looks natural. Or anything else.
Much thanks,
Bry

How To Fill With My Own Colour/Pattern/Sample?

I would like to fill an area with a sample taken from a photograph of my own.
For instance fill an area with copies of a small sample from a photo of a section of pebbly beach sand.
I say 'copies' because I believe that's the way pattern fill works and because my original sample wouldn't be big enough to fill the proposed area, so copies will be needed.
What's the best way to go about doing that?

[Gimp 2.8] What does a .pat file containes excepte the image ?

Hello there,
Here is my case : I have made few patterns with gimp as .pat files, and I would like other applications to use them. Unfortunately the .pat files seem to be gimp-native formats and I can't use them as images.
One solution is to stop using the .pat format and to save my patterns as png. But would there be a loss of information ? I would like to know what information does the .pat format contains except the image itself.
Thanks !
