  Clone Multiple Patterns At Once?
Posted by: Drain - 05-13-2020, 08:17 PM - Forum: General questions - No Replies

I'm looking for a way to simulate the "multiple patterns at once" effect going on in the video below. I already have large tiled patterns for the cross hatched rock and the stone floor and they work great using the Clone Tool.

The other thing I can't figure out (and GIMP might not have this ability) is how to setup a brush to create the squared off walls that's open on the trailing edge like in the video.

Thanks in advance for any help Smile

I need help with creating a map in Gimp
Posted by: theignis23 - 05-13-2020, 02:12 PM - Forum: General questions - Replies (1)

I am very new to Gimp and these forums. I recently got a homework. I have to create a map made out of images. I attached an example image below. I have made few images before, so I thought, that this won't be a problem. I tried cropping a state out of the original map and adding a layer below. Then I coppied an image in place, but it always ended up on top layer.
I didn't know a better community to ask, so here I am. Is there a way to create a map like this in Gimp? Please accept my begginerness.

  Can gimp create stitched bitmaps?
Posted by: mike_o - 05-13-2020, 12:35 PM - Forum: General questions - Replies (8)

I am an audio vst/instrument developer, I have always used a program called knobman for all of my bitmap graphics for my interfaces.

with OSX catalina knobman is having some serious issues and I need to look for a longterm alternative.

I google searched "creating stitched bitmap graphics in gimp" and found several videos regarding stitched textures, as in making the graphic look like it had been sew together, which is not what I need.

In knobman I could just create a circular knob with a center point maker and set it to rotate from -165 to +165 across 100 frames and then export t to create simple knobs for my instrument designs.

I can't quite figure out if gimp can do this or not, and if it does I haven't figured out how to do it.

Can gimp do this, create stitched interface graphics based upon degrees of rotation across a set number of frames?

Thanks.

any way to do hue vs. hue curves in GIMP? hue vs sat/lum/etc?
Posted by: clepsydrae - 05-12-2020, 10:15 PM - Forum: General questions - Replies (4)

Hello -- is there any way in GIMP (native or via G'MIC or a plugin) to do a hue vs hue adjustment? I'm aware of the basic color correction tools like Color -> Hue-Saturation that offer coarse adjustment, but I'm hoping for something akin to what you can do in Davinci Resolve, where you can adjust a smooth curve that controls the relationship. This image is showing hue vs luminance, but hue vs hue, hue vs saturation, etc, are all present and useful:

Anything like that for gimp? Thanks!

  Image Enlargement Issue
Posted by: thadc - 05-12-2020, 07:48 PM - Forum: General questions - Replies (1)

Hello,

I am having an image enlargement problem, specifically with exported images. I have an image in the gimp (xcf) format. I enlarged the image via image->scale image. On the gimp tool it appeared to enlarge properly. However, I have to export as another format (sort of arbitrarily choosing jpg) to import into a wiki page.

Unfortunately, when I export, the image size once added to the wiki page seems to stay the same size on the wiki page as it was before I attempted to enlargement. I have tried things like exporting with a different name, but that makes no difference. I would be grateful for any ideas.

thank you

  Gimp Shear not completing
Posted by: DavidChilvers - 05-12-2020, 02:27 PM - Forum: General questions - Replies (4)

Gimp 2.10.18 on Windows 10

I am trying to shear an image. I select the image (the correct layer is selected) and go through the Shear process, "Shear Selection",  selection of image using rectangle,  Clear show Image  Preview. When I click the Shear button, I get the small timer icon and then I am left with the original image unchanged (trellis) and a moving ants outline sheared. That is it.

Nothing seems to actually shear the displayed image.

When I watched a you tube video, there was no special action to complete the shear.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

David

  Trouble with color exchange
Posted by: astronaut - 05-12-2020, 01:19 AM - Forum: General questions - Replies (3)

I am very new to Gimp, and my goal with this image is to change the brick red to fuschia. So far, I have Indexed the Image Mode to 32 colors max, and I am having trouble with using Color Exchange. I chose the "From color" from the image itself, and I want the "To color" to be fuschia. I have tried messing with the red/green/blue thresholds, but I think I am missing something.

Thanks in advance!
