Hello all
I downloaded a font that has NATO military map symbols, essentially like wingdings but for map markings, my problem is, that every time I type something into gimp when using the font, it shows up as a letter, everywhere else I use the font it shows up as the intended icon, help! attached is the font

Grow not working |

I am new to Gimp 2.10 and have been watching many YouTube training videos but they are mainly on older versions! I am using Win 10 and was trying to put a border around a text. The videos basically showed select text and grow, fill new grown text with whatever color for border and place original text layer over this new slightly larger text layer.
I select text then "Alpha to select", which puts a yellow/ant outline around text, go to Select--grow and get the grow dialog box. Try to add pix but nothing happening the the text out line is not expanding as the YouTube video shows. I also tried select--border but that did nothing ether. Tried on a different computer to make sure not problem with software, same on laptop.
Am I doing something wrong or is there a new way to do this.
Thanks Bob

Writing a script to create multiple files |

I am looking for someone who can write a script that:
Runs Quadrilateral symmetry*
Adds a border to the file (from an existing file)
Saves as .xcf with a different name
Exports to .png
Runs Quadrilateral symmetry*
Crops to predefined dimensions
Adds border
Repeats a few times from the "save as" point with different borders and dimensions
*This is from a script created by ofnuts. I can provide a copy of the script to aid in creating the new script.
There is a lot more to the process, but I wanted to make it as brief as possible in order to provide enough information but not to make this post a mile long.
I am not really sure if a script can even be created for what I want to accomplish, but someone way more knowledgable about scripts would know much better.
Thank you,
Teresa
BTW: I am using Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit (soon to be moving to a machine with Windows 10 Home 64-bit) and the GIMP 2.8

Layer Mode: Erase |

Hi All,
Did I 'miss the email' about what the Erase layer mode does in Gimp 2.10.4? (I can't see anything in the release notes).
If applied to a layer, everything from that layer downwards is seen only as the chequerboard 'blank image' pattern, alpha channels not withstanding.
If, however, I paint onto the Erase layer with a suitably coloured Erase Colour brush, detail below the layer becomes visible in the areas where the effect applies.
So. Does anybody know how an Erase layer is meant to be used?
All the best,
and thanks for previous assistance,
QuinB

I need to make images in CMYK for printing |

I have made some images in RGB color space but the company where it will be printed works only with CMYK. Now my question is, how can I make images in CMYK in the correct colors? When I convert images from RGB to CMYK the results are not acceptable, the colors are changed too much. How can this be prevented?
