which seems to suggest that by loading layerfx.2.8.py into my plugins folder, as a Windows user, I would gain the option of previewing my effects.  I followed the instructions, but it didn't work. Can anyone tell me if this is valid please?

Since a majority of users (here and elsewhere) seem to be on 2.10, we will consider that the "General" section is for 2.10. As a consequence:

• I have started a "Gimp 2.8" sub-forum for those who prefer vintage software
  
• I have disabled thread creation in the Gimp 2.10 forum (posts to existing threads are still possible).

I bought an Intuos One pen and tablet, which I'm trying to use on GIMP 2.1

The device is configured and working, but every time I try to use it with GIMP, I get a 'GEGL Operation' window.

Any ideas how I can use it to actually draw something?

I want to use GIMP to create transparent PNG images.  I want to copy/paste text, boxes & arrows from MS Powerpoint into GIMP 2.8.22, then export to PNG so these can be put onto a video timeline.  I've got it to work perfectly except the objects pasted into GIMP aren't located properly.  I have a 1920 x 1080 very thin box around the objects in MS Powerpoint.  I was hoping to copy the 1920 x 1080 very thin box with the objects inside into my 1920 x 1080 GIMP file and have it all line up, but it is shifted and larger.  Any solutions ?  Thanx for the help !!!

I want to have a hand appear to come out of a wall. Of course, hand and wall would be on separate layers. Can anyone help?

After exporting a landscape jpg image the thumbnail appears as portrait in the file manager (Thunar 1.8.1) and the image viewer (ristretto 0.8.3). However, the image viewer displays the image correctly. Ubuntu Studio 18.10 Gimp 2.10. Any help appreciated.

How do you reset a single tool (or all of GIMP) to default after you totally messed up the settings? Help much appreciated.
