  bold text
Posted by: denzjos - 10-12-2018, 08:27 AM - Forum: Gimp 2.10 - Replies (2)

Is it possible to chose bold text with a toggle button so I don't have to click on bold every time I type a new text in the same picture? Thanks in advance. Gimp 2.10.6 / windows 10

  Colors issue
Posted by: Defacta - 10-11-2018, 09:02 PM - Forum: General questions - Replies (3)

Hello,

Sometimes I have colors issue like that, most of time it happens when I have a lot of image opened and I must not save the image if not it will save with the bugs.

And unfortunately for this image I have saved with theses colors issues.

Is there anything I can do to get back the image without the squares ?

Thanks,
Vincent.

Question Adding Tools to the Toolbox?
Posted by: Kloe - 10-11-2018, 06:07 PM - Forum: Gimp 2.10 - Replies (2)

Hi! I'm new to this forum so I appologise if I've put this in the wrong place... ^-^;

I recently updated to 2.10.6 and I realised that some tools aren't on the toolbar anymore. However, they also won't show up in the toolbar preference menu, tools I use a lot like: HueSaturation Hue-Saturation, Colorize Colorize and Posterize Posterize.

Is there any way to add these back into the toolbar? It seems weird that they wouldn't even be options anymore and is a little inconvinient...
Thanks in advance! -Kloe♥

  Out of gamut
Posted by: b60 - 10-10-2018, 10:33 PM - Forum: General questions - Replies (3)

Gimp 2.8, using soft proofing via Color Management in Edit. I set the monitor profile and the ICC values for the printer and paper. The printer I use uses only sRGB. On some of my photos there are quite a bit of out-of-gamut sections. is there a fix for this? I've read that converting to CMYK and then back to sRGB will solve it, but I don't know how to do this in Gimp?

Thanks in advance for any help!

  Changing A Color
Posted by: Ricebug - 10-10-2018, 05:42 PM - Forum: General questions - Replies (5)

I have a map of Salem, Oregon, and am trying to trace the railroad tracks with a different color. In the map, the tracks are barely legible. Is there a way to pick the color and then globally change the map so that the tracks show up better?

I realize that other parts of the map may be affected. Not an issue, as I'm only focused on the RR tracks themselves. Not an issue, as I'm only focused on the RR tracks themselves.

  Burn tool Glitch with layers
Posted by: GorFrag - 10-09-2018, 11:13 PM - Forum: General questions - Replies (6)

When I start an image I can use the Dodge/Burn tool as normal. However once I use a layer of any sort, even once I merge all layers the Burn tool now can only give me hard edges.

I can find no way to reset that.

I run it on a Asus windows ten rig.

  Mandala Symmetry Guides needed
Posted by: AndyG - 10-09-2018, 06:43 PM - Forum: Gimp 2.10 - Replies (4)

2.10 has a "new" symmetry tool. Helpful, however.... is there a way to show guides/lines from the origin point out per each axis of the mandala?

While it's nice that it's new, it's difficult to see how many axis and where my lines start and end in relation to the number of symmetry segments.

MandalaGaba does it well, but it does not have the editing functions we have come to enjoy and rely on such as Gimp does. If anyone here has played with the Kaleidoscope in Corel Painter, the view of the axis is another example of the guide function. However, Corel Painter 12 stops at 12 segments, where Gimp has 100 AND a proper :Path tool.

  Weird font issue
Posted by: carmen - 10-09-2018, 01:13 PM - Forum: General questions - Replies (15)

Hello--I am stumped!
I have a font in my GIMP fonts search path that would show a weird character instead of a plain space in Gimp, ... apparently depending on whether or not other 2 fonts (system .fon, not .ttf nor .otf) are also loaded by Gimp.
1. Screenshot showing the issue     : the two topmost fonts are 8514fix.fon and 8514Oem.fon, living in C:\Windows\winsxs\amd64_microsoft-windows-font-bitmap-fixed_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7600.16385_none_db04d3f548508fd9--they don't appear in usual font menus, nor in windows character map
2. After first bumping into the issue, I tried again with the same font
.zip   great-western-way.zip (Size: 47.28 KB / Downloads: 584) , it shows in menu as Old Street Signs:  8514fix.fon and 8514Oem.fon weren't on Gimp font menu and I was able to insert and edit the text without trouble (I have the .xcf file with the normal text)
3. However, they are back now--both in win7 and win10)--and so is the trouble.
Please: is there a way to prevent Gimp from loading those fonts (or bitmap fonts in general--I don't use them)? Or, if the trouble isn't actually related with bitmap .fon fonts, is there some workaround not involving tagging the spaces as Times New Roman or whatever--thus disturbing the font's line-height?

  Newbie Layer Question
Posted by: hrdwirk1 - 10-08-2018, 06:14 PM - Forum: General questions - Replies (1)

I am trying to change the color of a pair of white shoes in GIMP before I actually do it in real life.

I have looked at several videos on youtube and searched this forum as well and haventh been able to find my answer.

I am trying to change the color by using the new layer option. However when I got to color the section of the shoe it doesnt show it applying. I can see what I have done by looking at the new layer with the checkered background but the color isnt applying to the actual image.

Any help would be appreciated.
