Printing multiple images at specified dimensions - on ONE page
Posted by: luxor - 08-27-2018, 12:14 PM - Forum: General questions - Replies (2)

Hi all.

Many thanks in advance for anybody who can crack this little puzzle for me. I'll preface the query by stating that, yes, I've spent a good while searching for a solution on this message board, but perhaps my terminology wasn't specific enough.  Big Grin  Anyway:

I am an independent perfumer and I use GIMP (v2.8) to print my pre-designed JPEG labels for a regular 50ml bottle to specific dimensions, usually 12.5cm by 6.5cm. It works brilliantly.

I have recently undertaken a request to manufacture 250 x 2ml sample-size atomisers for a wedding. The required dimensions for these labels are 3cm x 0.75cm. That's fine - BUT:

How can I tile an A4 page with the labels at those dimensions? I can print one per page - like I do with the regular, larger labels - but at such tiny dimensions as 3cm x 0.75cm, one per page would be a terible waste of paper.

Any clues? Help would be much appreciated, guys! If it helps, I use stickyback photo paper for all my labels - I simply use a paper guillotine to cut them out.

Foreground selection tool doesn't change background color

Foreground selection tool doesn't change background color
Struggling with the foreground selection tool. Gimp 2.10.6. Windows 10.

I select the foreground selection tool, I select an area around the area I want to "extract" and I close the selection with the yellow circle. Then nothing happens. The background doens't change to blue. I just have an image with a closed selection line. Totally stuck.

I have tried using my own jpg image. No luck. I am using Lynda.com to learn Gimp and have their exercise files, in this case a surfer dude, so I know there is nothing wrong with the image itself. No luck.

Dozens of viruses/threads detected by Comodo Antyvirus

Hello

My comodo antyvirus after full scan told me that GIMP is full of viruses/threads, here is a screenshot example.
Why is he giving me such warnings. Did someone reported similar issues before?

(SOLVED) Warped images will not save or export
Posted by: Steve_Gesn - 08-26-2018, 06:53 PM - Forum: General questions - Replies (2)

I am using Gimp 2.10, My system is PCLinuxOS with all the latest updates. Gimp is in Synaptic and all I had to do to install is to check off the program and the mods I wanted to have.
OK, When I modify an image with the "Warp" tool I cannot get the image to save or export the way I modified it. The image reverts back to its original pattern before I used the Warp tool. This is confusing I know. I'll try to explain better. I can take a regular image and use the Warp tool with any of its functions and it will work just fine, but as soon as I hit Save or Save as or export or export as or overwrite the image goes back to the way it was and does not save the warp modification. What am I doing wrong? Please help. Thanks in advance any suggestions you may have.

Blurry GIMP interface on macOS High Sierra 10.13.6
Posted by: vagkavo - 08-26-2018, 08:53 AM - Forum: Gimp 2.10 - Replies (6)

I tried to install the latest version of GIMP on macOS High Sierra 10.13.6.
The installation was successful, however once I launched GIMP, the interface seems quite blurry (most of the icons and buttons as well).
The same applies, when I open any photo with GIMP.

Please check the following screenshots:

Any clue on why this could happen, please ?

  Bug or....
Posted by: sallyanne - 08-25-2018, 11:59 AM - Forum: Gimp 2.10 - Replies (2)

At the moment I am using 2.10.4 and different events close on me - they continue after opening again but should this even happen in the first place.
Couple I can think of, off the top of my head are,
When I open a picture
When I go to export a picture
Some filters even do this.

Any way I have never had this happen before. Should I try the 2.10.6 and see if it is still happening?

GIMP 2.10.6 Appimage - Language settings gone?
Posted by: nelo - 08-25-2018, 09:22 AM - Forum: Gimp 2.10 - Replies (2)

Hi all,

just downloaded the Appimage of gIMP 2.10.6 from here
https://github.com/aferrero2707/gimp-app...4.AppImage

... and I somehow can't find language settings. Where have they gone to?
Wasn't it in Preferences>Interface?

I just feel as if I'm blind, not seeing it.

Greetings

  Hue-Saturation Issue
Posted by: TimW - 08-25-2018, 12:39 AM - Forum: Gimp 2.10 - Replies (1)

I have a workflow in GIMP 2.10 which opens a RAW file via Darktable.  This creates a 32bitFP image.
Initially the image appears correctly.

If I then select Colors/Hue-Saturation I get an image with a very different histogram and appearance.

On cancelling the dialog the image returns to its initial state.  However, if I leave the sliders in their default unaltered state the changes are preserved.

If I convert the image to any of the available integer precisions before selecting Colors/Hue-Saturation the problem does not occur.

Can someone please explain what is happening.

Thanks a lot.
Tim
