color of my project is gone!
Posted by: gimpnoob - 05-06-2017, 05:01 PM - Forum: General questions - Replies (5)

sorry to make excessive threads this is a pain! you know how in gimp you have a color selection right? you can then pick the color of your project. my project (see below) is of a dung beetle but the colour is a hue of blue that is hard to pick out. gimp usually saves your colour choice but this time it is gone! I tried to make the colors again but no luck Sad what do I do? )

thx

how to change color of logo without it swelling?
Posted by: gimpnoob - 05-06-2017, 03:07 AM - Forum: General questions - Replies (2)

Here is the thing I am an admin as well. I am trying to make a logo but the the problem is I want to change the beetles legs and head from black to blue, however, the issue is that when i change the color it gets swollen.

(see images)

the one on the left is the changed beetle. as you can see the legs are swollen i just want them red not swollen.

thx

(i followed this vid btw too https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cgZXKjAnU-0 )

Hi All - Just a quickie - how does one put a signature on this page? Have checked through my User CP but can't see anything to help.

Many thanks.

  Saving/Exporting problem?
Posted by: JackOats - 05-03-2017, 11:38 PM - Forum: General questions - Replies (6)

Hi All,
Have just started using & getting familiar with Gimp. Obviously LOADS of things to learn. I started work on a project - imported a .png to work on. I had this as a background layer with 3 layers stacked on top which had various coloured pencil & brushwork on. My problem is saving & exporting the image (as .png) to a folder on my Desktop. When I open the folder later to carry on working on the project all the layers have gone and it seems to have been 'rendered' to a single layer. Is it possible to save & export the file in it's working state so I can carry on working on it later.
Thanks.

  Cannot move perspective tool dialogue
Posted by: Yash Pal - 05-03-2017, 02:54 PM - Forum: General questions - Replies (2)

I have GIMP (GNU Image Manipulation Programme - as it is called now) 2.9.5, with Ubuntu 16.04.

I wanted to adjust an image with the perspective tool, but the tool dialogue (or whatever it is called), comes in the way and I cannot move it away, which I could do with earlier versions. The covered corner cannot be manipulated.

I have attached the part of the screenshot showing part of image being covered.

Any way out please?

  Blending Colors to Paint
Posted by: JackAttack - 04-28-2017, 08:01 PM - Forum: General questions - Replies (5)

Hi, I use Gimp to do digital painting with my Intuos Draw. When I start coloring a drawing, I begin by laying down a base color, then adding the darkest spots, then I usually manually choose a color in between the base and my dark color to make the transition realistic. Is there a simpler way to do this? A tool from a plugin maybe?
Thanks in advance

  Disappearing Camouflage (no pun intended)
Posted by: eingram25 - 04-28-2017, 02:59 PM - Forum: Extending the GIMP - Replies (2)

I'd like to tell you an interesting anecdote. I used a pattern in G'MIC (camouflage) in one of my picture manipulations. Later, I installed something called  "Gimp extensions" (http://registry.gimp.org/node/27656) because the description said I could pick what filters and/or add-ons I wanted. This didn't happen, it just installed a bunch of filters without my control. What is interesting is that afterwards when i wanted to use the camo pattern again, it had disappeared from G'MIC! I had to re install G'mic to get it back!

No Preview on Shadows & Highlights Script
Posted by: alnuwer - 04-26-2017, 06:21 PM - Forum: Extending the GIMP - Replies (12)

Hi from a Gimp newbie - been using a very old version of Photoshop till now.
I installed the Shadows & Highlights script successfully (I believe) by adding the file shadows-highlights-2-4.scm to the C:\Program Files\GIMP 2\share\gimp\2.0\scripts directory, but when I use it, I do not see any option for previewing my adjustments; I only see the results after I hit the OK button. How do I preview my adjustments?
Thanks for your help - and looking forward to great things from Gimp!
