Add text to an animation (a gif)
Posted by: rich2005 - 01-29-2017, 12:02 PM - Forum: Tutorials and tips - No Replies

Another look at a question that often comes up.
Adding text to an animation is often a beginners problem.

For three or four layers, text can be added, duplicated and merged layer-by-layer. More that that and there are scripts to automate the process. This demo uses one of those ofn-interleave-layers.py which you can get at ofnuts sourceforge page
https://sourceforge.net/projects/gimp-to...s/scripts/

This demo shows
. Ofnuts sourceforge page for the plugin.
. Change the color mode from Indexed to RGB
. Unoptimizing the gif (if required) to make all layers canvas size.
. Adding text and set the text layer to canvas size
. Apply the interleave layers plugin
. Optimize the new animation.

duration 6 minutes

Can't believe I've had GIMP for so long and have only just starting playing around with it's artistic elements.

These are all from scratch - no filtered photos.

Thanks for looking Smile

  Adding GPS to 2.8 [solved]
Posted by: OurJud - 01-28-2017, 11:55 PM - Forum: General questions - Replies (1)

Hi, I'm running GIMP 2.8 on W7 and would like to add the Paint Studio addon, but am struggling to know where I get it. All the ones I've found are either from sites I don't know (or trust) or years out of date on the google page. Even then the google page presents me with countless files and I'm unsure which I should be downloading.

Would anyone be kind enough to provide a working link to the exact GPS file I need to download.

Thanks in advance.

[edit] I went ahead and downloaded the google one, then followed the simple drag and drop options on wiki. However, when I launch GIMP nothing seems to have changed and there are no extra brushes showing in the usual gallery.

Any help? I unzipped the GPS 2 folder, then dragged all the folder into my GIMP 2.8 folder. Not sure if I did it correctly.

Okay, so now, in my GIMP folder, I have a brushes folder, and inside there I have a GPS Brushes folder which appears to have all the new brushes, but how do I access them when I launch GIMP?

Hey so I am desperately trying to remove the background of the below image. It was supposed to be a render but it didn't turn out that way :Sad I am trying to use the eraser to erase the weird squares in the background but I keep ruining the image. Any help will be appreciated.

Scanner is not recognised by GIMP
Posted by: Free_Lifeware - 01-27-2017, 09:53 PM - Forum: General questions - Replies (2)

I use GIMP 2.9.5 on Linux MInt.
I can use my Scanner through other programmes but when I run GIMP and go to File-> Create there is no Scanner/Camera option.
There are the options From Clipboard, From Webpage, Screenhot but no Camera/Scanner.

The Scanner is recognised by the OS but not by GIMP.
Any ideas?

Photo 4-point perspective transform
Posted by: rich2005 - 01-27-2017, 11:00 AM - Forum: Extending the GIMP - Replies (4)

This is a little plugin ob-align.py by Oberon Leung, that is in danger of being lost, so this post to keep it alive.

There are other similar plugins and of course command line ImageMagick has a similar function.

However, ob-align.py, providing you are not too ambitious, is easy to use.

A 4 minute demo

The plugin is attached, remember to unzip it. Pop it in your Gimp profile, in Windows, C:\Users\your-name\.gimp-2.8\plug-ins
