First, a little background.  I have limited experience with graphics manipulation, but I need to get this figured out for a project I'm working on.

The attached image was scanned from an old pinball playfield that I am restoring.  I have the image saved as a 600 ppi BMP.

The goal is to remove all color except for the black outlines on the car so I can print a waterslide decal of just the black line drawing of the car.  I'll physically repaint the base colors of the car then apply the waterslide decal to add the details back in.

What is the best way to accomplish getting a black and white line drawing?

For some reason (Overnight Basically) when I open GIMP, I get between 6 and 7 entry point errors. One of them is .......
One if them is 
The procedure entry point _cxa_throw_bad_array_new_length could not be located in the dynamic Link Library 
C:\Program Files\GIMP2\bin\icui18n56.dll

  I updated my GIMP 2.8.16 and installed 2.8.20, but still get all the same errors. It was working perfectly just a day or so ago, and now each time I go to use GIMP, I have to hit "OK" at least 6 or 7 time to start the program. 
Would appreciate some assistance on this one.

Using Windows 10 and Gimp 2.8  When I look at the properties of a .png image on my desktop is says it is 377KB  but when I open it in GIMP underneath the canvas it says image.png (2.7 MB)
It's not a problem, I'm just wondering, why the difference ?

"It would be GREAT to be able to pick the CENTER of the symmetry activity...  and to pick MULTIPLE centers...  also, it would be good to be able to pick N divisions  to symmetry-ize...  or an "angle"...  what if you wanted to do 60 degree?  or 30?  or any 360/N symmetry?  AND be able to choose the CENTER(s) of the symmetry?  For example if i wanted to do guilding type decoration/drawing...  i could drop X number of "pins", and by drawing near one pin, the brushstrokes/tool-action would be replicated around the other pins in the same scale and with the same 360/N (with a 'phase' (rotation)) symmetry.

If i did 360/2, at 0 degree phase, i'd get left right mirroring...  if i did 360/2 at 90 degree phase (rotation), i'd get vertical mirroring, if i did 360/4, at either 0, or no degree phase, i'd get horizontal and vertical symmetry...  and if i did the same with the phase set to 45 degree phase, i'd gate "X" patterned symmetry, instead of "+"...

And if i did 360/3...  or 360/6, etc...  i could get nearly infinite symmetry options...

where is the official feature requests/suggestions area if the interwebz?

Hi I am new to Gimp but a proficient photoshop user. I have some photo album pages with 4-6 images on each and I want to run an auto crop action, photoshop does not work for this. I have downloaded and installed Batch divide scanned images and diskew plugins. But when I try to run the batch divide the dialogue box comes up I can set the load from and destination folders but nothing happens.

Can anyone help with this and or recommend a way to batch divide a lot of scanned pages?

Inspired by frustration with trying to get Gimp to shake hands with my Wacom Intuos 3 pen tablet, I went searching for another software that would accomplish my simple goals without so much monkey business.

I discovered a possible interesting solution that I'm trying called SAI (http://www.systemax.jp/en/)
Gimp does a lot of cool stuff, but my simple desire to draw an ink line that shifted in thickness based on the stylus pressure seemed to be an insurmountable task, not to mention all the hoop-jumping just to get Wacom and Gimp to talk

SAI immediately made friends with Wacom, including the simple line drawing feature I was after. It also handles most if not all of the features that Gimp does.

It's not totally free, but the price (around $70 I think) is a far cry from having to rent Photoshop or Painter (idiotic concept)

Herewith, a simple quick sketch demonstrating the line feature. This incorporated layers, saves in native file format as well as Photoshop and the usuals (this is a jpg)

   

My machine is a Mac running OS Sierra all up to date, I use Gimp 2.6.18 for Mac. I am not a computer guy. I am trying to open a texture.file to manipulate it. I have the plugin (gimp-dds-2.0.2) but the installation file does not make sense to me.
                     
Installation

2. Type 'make install' to install the plugin. By default the plugin will be
installed in your GIMP user plugin directory ($HOME/.gimp-2.2/plug-ins).  If
you want to install the plugin system-wide, as root you must manually copy the

Difficult to put a category on this. Maybe a tip for users of old graphics tablets.

This is my Wacom Volito from around 2006 - 11 years old but still works in my regular linux installation. Does it work in Windows10? Yes - with lots of reservations.
