My goal is to create a 1" box with a resized picture in it.  I have a picture of a person whose face I want to fit into that 1" box.  What I have done is create the main layer as a 1" box.  I then made a 2nd layer with the full picture in it.  Only a 1" box of the 2nd layer is seen through the original layer, and that is perfect.  Now I want to grab a corner of the 2nd layer and shrink it until the face on that layer fills the 1" box.

The problem I am having is that I cannot figure out how to grab a corner on the 2nd layer to do this.  I have the option of resizing the 2nd layer, but I need to know exactly what size I want that entire layer to be to do that.

Has anyone figured this out?

I have a question about editing pdfs in GIMP (GIMP 2.8.18-Windows). Can I open up a multi-page pdf as a single document; edit some of the pages (I am whiting out text with Ink Tool), then re-save it as a single pdf again?

I have been opening a 36 page pdf by selecting: open-select all-open pages as images. This opens up each page separately. Then I have been saving each page as a separate file by choosing: file-export. Takes a long time.

Is there an easier way to do this, by opening the pdf as one doc maybe? Apologies in advance, I'm new to GIMP, and I'm not a computer guy.

I am extending a board game by making a map of the real world, and I want to put dots at each corner of a grid layout as show. I only need the dots rendered, not the grid shown.

How i am doing it is i show the grid and put a dot on the water anywhere they intersect on a new layer. However 1) they are manually set so some look mis-aligned, and 2) its taking forever to manually put the dots and try to align them exact. 

Is there a way to automate this so all corners of the grid to insert a dot, and then just remove the ones manually that are over land? 




My other question is how can i render a grid to the image? I need to add a grid to the picture, just not the one show for dots. It needs to be spaced larger for sectors whether the one shown is just to put the dots somewhat aligned.

Under Preferences>Environment in Gimp 2.8.10 there is a check box 'Confirm closing of unsaved images'. In Gimp 2.8.18 this feature is missing in Environment. Has this been moved to another area or just deleted? Is there a way to issue a text command that would be equivalent to unchecking this box? Thanks Fred

I have been watching the you tube on how to do cutout. I followed all the steps, however when I Invert the picture and hit the delete either the car I traced disappears, or the background goes all white?  I cannot get the checkered background?  I am enclosing the original picture and the one I cutout but cannot get checkered backgound.  If anyone could look at this and let me know what it is I am not getting?  I really am trying to learn so I would appreciate if you coulf tell what steps I must take to fix this.
