I'm running latest stable gimp-2.10, latest graphics driver, ensured the registry entries, but I have no checkbox to enable opencl under preferences->system resources. Do I need to reinstall gimp for it see that?

  image changing size
Posted by: lossygimp - 04-06-2021, 05:00 PM - Forum: General questions - Replies (4)

I start with an image 8192x8192, add layer, select all, color to alpha, then apply filter cold metal, and my image immediately balloons to 9430x15165. What is happening?

  tab thumbnail

Is there a way to change the tab thumbnail for a text with the name of the archive, something like the example.

Usually have to work with images that look the same in the thumbnail, so a text would be better for me.

Exclamation GIMP crashing upon launch
Posted by: apple_ - 04-05-2021, 10:33 PM - Forum: Installation and usage - Replies (2)

Whenever I try to launch GIMP, the startup window always freezes while loading 'Modules'.
Output

Edit: I've read a lot about new drivers but not really what about them causes this problem, let alone how to fix it. Might have something to do with the crash considering I bought new headphones recently.

Edit #2: Apparently opening the drivers and restarting my computer made GIMP work again. Not really sure how, but it's fixed now I guess?

  Corel PhotoPaint -like Script/macro Recorder
Posted by: Beachscriber - 04-05-2021, 01:13 PM - Forum: Extending the GIMP - Replies (2)

I'm coming back to the Gimp after about 10 years of using CorelDraw and I am so impressed with what I'm finding here now!
There is one feature of Corel PhotoPaint that I loved and used a lot and I can't find anything like it here or among plugins. It's the Macro recorder. (see attached) It allowed me to click a record button, go through a sequence of actions such as placing a signature on a photograph and then save that script / macro and simply play it again on a series of other images. Can anyone point me in the right direction in finding such a thing for the Gimp?

Mac Big Sur Gimp 2.10 doesn't see scanner
Posted by: ambimom - 04-04-2021, 06:47 PM - Forum: General questions - No Replies

Before Mac Big Sur, Gimp listed my scanner (Canon Pixma TR4520) under "Create" but no longer.  Big Sur does recognize my scanner under Mac System Preferences Printers/Scanners and Image Capture.  I've updated to the latest Mac version of Gimp but it still does not see the scanner.  Anyone else have this problem?

GMic Disappeared from GIMP 2.10.24 Flatpak Installation - Solved
Posted by: programmer_ceds - 04-04-2021, 04:44 PM - Forum: Linux and other Unixen - Replies (21)

I use Linux Mint 20.1 with the Flatpak version of GIMP and GMic.

After seeing the problem reported in another thread about installing GMic with GIMP 2.10,24 on Windows I checked to make sure that it was still available in my copy of GIMP - it wasn't shown in the Filters menu.

In a terminal "flatpak list" showed that GMic V2.9.6 Branch 2-3.36 was installed. Uninstalling this by typing:

"flatpak uninstall org.gimp.GIMP.Plugin.GMicc"

and then reinstalling GMic by typing:

"flatpak install org.gimp"

and then selecting the option to install "runtime/org.gimp.GIMP.Plugin.GMic/x86_64/2-40" updated GMic to V2.9.6 Branch 2-40. GMic then appeared in the Filters menu of GIMP (and worked).

I think this is connected with the upgrading of the GNOME Application Platform and it's just coincidental that GIMP updated recently.

Hope this helps if you have a similar problem.

Is there any function in gimp 3 python which replaces layer.get_pixel_rgn(0, 0, layer.width, layer.height) ? I tried but this function is not working.
