I would like my brush to rotate continuously 360 deg (like a propeller if i can say that) to do something like twisted wires
something like here > https://depositphotos.com/126584858/stoc...wires.html
but I' struggling with the settings I can't get the brush to rotate continuously, I don't know what setting I should check, tried many, but felt all the way down
any suggestion?

PDF export: Layers groups as pages?
Posted by: Gimpdf - 07-06-2021, 11:36 AM - Forum: General questions - Replies (4)

Hello,
I've seen a video where someone exported a PDF file with one layer group per page. Say layer group 1 contains: Text1, Text2, and white background. The resulting PDF in this video has all three components on one page.
However, when I export this example layer group, I get a PDF with 3 pages, one for each layer of the layer group.
Is there a way around this?

I'm using Gimp 2.10.24 and Win10 64 bit.

Regards.

  Write on beach sand

I got the beginner instructions from another forum. Thanks to Racer-x

this is my work so far. Sadly, I am not able to imitate the depth. I am supposed to use the text as Bump map, which I do not know how. So I played with colour Levels and Curve. I like this, but a feel of depth would be nice. Thanks.

Procedure so far

1. Text in Black
2. Select grow 1px, fill it with White on a layer below it

Select black and remove it from the white layer so that only the white border remains.

3. Noise > Spread for white

4. Then I am supposed to merge black and white and use it as a Bump map.

  Selection disappears when made floating
Posted by: samalfredsson - 07-05-2021, 07:11 PM - Forum: OSX - Replies (8)

Hello,

I'm trying to save different selections of an image to separate layers, so that they can be edited independently. This worked fine before, but for some reason my usual process stopped working. What I did before was:

1. Make a selection in the original image
2. Make the selection floating (Right click-->Selection-->Floating)
3. Create new layer from the floating layer (Right click on floating layer-->To new layer)
4. When I wanted to edit the selection, I select the considered layer and Right click-->Alfa layer to selection

When I try to do this now, the selection disappears when I make the selection floating in step number two, and I'm not able to use the alfa to selection option in the new layer.

Any ideas why this is happening? If I create a new image it works fine. I've also tried removing a bunch of much layers but no success.

Many thanks in advance for some clarification on this!

Those who also use Gimp Chat forum already know me (they are probably thinking Oh, my goodness, what's he doing over here? Big Grin )  I just thought I would give another forum a chance.

  "Newbye" question about layers
Posted by: jm_maxxou - 07-04-2021, 03:36 PM - Forum: Older Gimp versions (2.8, 2.6....) - Replies (3)

Hi.

Beforehand, I am not a native English speaker. Please excuse any mistake. I am not a very experienced Gimp user but I used it a lot to modify/improve images. Until now, I did not have any problem and required no help. Most of my work was about getting the best out of photographs for my wife's PhD and the result was very good.
I do now have a problem with technical images that I must redo (very low resolution that must be improved).  I stick to version 2.8 because of brushes (I am no expert and do not want to create a new brush every time).
I need to import the old image as bottom layer, create a new layer and overlay my new drawing. Only problem, nothing is drawn on the new layer and I need advice.

Thanks a lot.

Export as PDF: Suddenly Markup Is Lost
Posted by: Immortality - 07-04-2021, 12:13 PM - Forum: General questions - Replies (3)

Hello everyone,

Despite my n00b-fu, I managed to get the cover of my humble scribbling the right size. I discussed this issue here.
Suddenly a new problem arose. Normally I have no problem exporting a file as .PDF; but now suddenly some design choices have gone missing.

What it used to look like: https://aviilokinkshi.net/cover4.png
What it looks like now: https://aviilokinkshi.net/5x8COVER.pdf

When I export the file, I had a look at what options Gimp provides for exporting it. I couldn't find anything meaningful; though of course my neophyte eyes are blind.

Kindly and thank you for your guidance,

Immortality

  Rotate freezes before completing
Posted by: GMP - 07-04-2021, 06:29 AM - Forum: General questions - Replies (20)

When I try to rotate a pic that has a layer mask, most of the time it's fast until about 3/4 or more into the process and then it freezes. I use the paintbrush to erase about 90% of the pic, leaving only the face. Pics that aren't layer masks don't have this problem. Also when I try to scale the layer mask that many times freezes also. Is there a setting that I can make to make this work better?
