When using Heal-selection this popup appears.   I did install synthesiser tools.    

I have some old engineering drawings that were created using the diazo process nearly 60 years ago. The paper is yellowed with age and there is spotting from mold and mildew over the years. Most of the lines are pretty much intact, but in may places the text is illegible.

Originally the print would have had a light blue to white background with dark blue lines. Something like this.



I don't need to recreate the original "look", I just need to enhance the the text to make it legible. Ideally grayscale for printing on white paper. Background noise isn't an issue. This is a research project. Being able to read the faded text when printed more important than overall aesthetics.

I've experimented with the Levels and Curves tools. So, so results.  Looking for ideas or a process to get the best results. Thanks Sandy

I have got it to draw lines in gimp, but is it possible to move this line around.

My GIMP window looks as shown below. However, when I try to export image to tif, almost all is white. What's wrong? Have I selected incorrect layers? I'm very new to GIMP, I'm using it to remove speckles before OCR-ing a book.

Hi guys, 
I could really appreciate your help with a problem that I lately have with my GIMP program (version 2.10.18). 
If I want to scale a part of the picture with shift + t (Windows). I get this notification that there's no path to transform, but I really have no idea what that means.
I have selected a layer and selected the picture in it. So can somebody explain to me what I'm doing wrong? 


I have attached a screenshot of the notification, but it's in Dutch. 
The literal translation: There is no path to transform.

I'm not sure if that is the best way to word it, but regardless. What I am trying to do is take a drawing that was 48X48 to start with and have it display in full resolution while I draw what I am actually trying to draw... Why dose it have to be so hard to word this?


And yes, I know there would be no way to get an image to show as a higher resolution than it was. I only want it to show that way for reference
while I am drawing.

This problems bugs me so often, I decided to post a question here.

I usually correct the whiteness of the pictures by using Level / Pick white point tool.

However, so often the "whiteness" of the picture changes gradually over the picture.  Is it possible to correct "whiteness" gradually all over the picture?

Hi,
   I've been trying to do something you can see in the image:(click here, please).
   Because I didn't know how to make the effect with GIMP, I did it with Inkscape. Then I copied the result on Gimp, added shadow and, more or less, I could get what I wanted.
   However, I have to do the same with several images and I wonder if there is already a filter, extension or something that can do it automatically.
   If not, I'd like to know if everything can be done easily with Gimp and, of course, how.

I want to scale a 1600 x 1200 image to 4800 x 3600 with little to no quality loss, I'm currently using GIMP 2.10.14. Any tips?

I am running Linux Mint 19.3 XFCE.  I installed Gimp with my software manager and the menu has a font size that is too tiny to read.  I thought that maybe it would help to run a more recent version of Gimp so I removed the Gimp 2.8 and downloaded and installed GIMP 2.10.18.  But the font is still too small.  Below is my laptop information.  I tried to do an Internet search trying to find out how to fix this problem and there are countless "solutions" and I ended up having to re-install my operating system after I had it so screwed up I couldn't fix what I had messed up.  I thought I'd come to this forum and ask for help before I screw my computer up again.  Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.
