Maybe I posted this question in the wrong forum.

My assumption is that "Auto" means to algorithmically do what the user could have done by manually exercising the various controls.  If so it would be most helpful to display the results in the dialogue window in the various display areas that get updated when the controls are exercised individually be the user.  Might it make sense to be able to save a good result as a preset?

Also, while good, sometimes the algorithm "over does it" just a bit and the user ought to be able to tweak it just a bit.  The way I'm doing it produces no clue about what was done that may have been a pretty darn good place to start.

When I export a transparent png file the background of the thumbnail is black. When I open the image it's white. I've made 100's of images and in the past, they show the thumbnails with a white background. Only new images have changed to black. The older ones are still white. I check the file in gimp and it is indeed transparent. What has changed?>

   

gimp-2.10.18-2.fc32.x86_64 / also on the download for Windows 10  I get the pop up notice attached when I try to change the fonts in oft-text-along-path.

I just installed GIMP 2.10 on my Mac (OS 10.13.6 High Sierra) and cannot use the tools as they are locked and won't unlock.

Hi. Lately i moved to Gimp 2.10.14 from older version (with white GUI - sorry for not being accurate). Honestly the older version was much more intuitive to work with. I have so much more frustrations with the 2.10 now, but it's possible i just need to know more operations for (hopefully) having more possibilities that newer version brings. One of the new problems with 2.10 is that i can not move pasted images (right after ctrl+v) if a layer above does not contain alpha in a place i want to click and drag pasted image. In those situtations I don't want to hide layer above, because often i want to paste something while basing on a placement of other things on other layers. Please tell me how to solve this.

Hi everyone, my first post here. Was wondering if people could help me, I'm not very technically adept but am learning as I go. I'm trying to downsize an image so it fits within a template. The image size in question is A LOT bigger than the template I am trying to insert it into. When I go to rescale it to something smaller the colour becomes a more washed out, almost as if the saturation has been altered? I've tried to used all the different interpolation options to no avail.

Hi, Firstly im sure this will be a simple setting I'm missing but hopefully you can help. 
Basic info Using 2.10.18 on windows 10, with a wacom intuos tablet.

Whenever I try to draw a small curved line with a brush tool the first centimetre is always straight, It look like it registers a 'start point' then no matter what route I take it draws a straight line to an arbitrary point a short distance from the start. So instead of a smooth curve i get a straight line leading into the curve.

Any ideas what i have missed or need to change settings wise to reduce or eliminate this?

I have not used any hardware or software like this before so forgive me if it's something basic I have missed.

I'm sorry, but I cannot seem to figure out how to attach an image. It's blue, circular with three lines coming off it, with a number next to it. One has a number 1 and the other 2. It doesn't change size when I zoom, and also doesn't disappear with any layer, and I can't seem to remove it no matter what I do. Thanks in advance to anyone who can figure out what I'm describing and how to remove it.
