I have been using GIMP for some time on my Macbook Pro. I use the fuzzy select tool to cut out the background of photos I take of coins so that I can show both sides of the coin in the one image with a white background. I have an issue with using fuzzy select that would save me a huge amount of time, if I worked out how to use it better. Grateful for nay help.
I have 2 questions:
1. When using the fuzzy select tool, why after feathering do selected areas outside the main selected area dissapear (screenshot 1) only to reappear when copying and pasting (screenshot 2 - circled). In other words, after feathering, it looks like i have gotten rid of the unwanted selected areas, only for them to reappear when I copy / cut from the selection (photo 2). If they were still selected, why aren't they showing as selected.
2. I struggle with silver coins as they are too reflective. Is there any way for the selection using the fuzzel tool to only include contiguous areas? Or is there a way to remove ALL selections outside the main selected area? It would seem odd to me if there is no solution for this. It is painstakingly slow to keep reducing the threshold and removing all unwanted selections. When I find myself doing this (usually with silever coins), I revert to the paths tool (also slow, but faster than using fuzzy tool in that situation).
Thanks, I hope to find out I've been using it wrong all this time and there is a better way to do it!
OK, I have a general question about the ink tool. I use the ink tool with the dissolve setting and pressure sensitivity only. When I use the ink tool with my Wacom tablet as soon as I touch the tablet the tool goes on heavy. Is there anyway to adjust the settings so when I press lightly the stroke appears as a fine stroke and if I press down harder the stroke gets wider? Am I missing something obvious here? FYI: I don't need speed sensitivity just pressure sensitivity.
Hello! new to the forum,
I need some help because I couldn't find any om YouTube..
Anyone knows how to make typical "biker gang" styled patches?
Like the top and lower rockers and adding text to that and have and image in the middle.
Also adding and outer line color, as shown in image.
This might be very simple but I can't figure it out.
If you go to https://www.gimp.org/news/2019/04/07/gim...-released/ and look at the toolbox under the words Transformation tools you'll see that the toolbox is in 2 columns. I can't make my toolbox 2 columns. I clicked on the right of the toolbox and tried to squeeze it (the way I did in previous versions) and I can only get it to be 3 columns. Just in case I'm not being clear I'm attaching my (wrong) results. I really need the toolbox to be just 2 columns. Is this a bug? Will it be fixed? Is this the new norm?
Thanks,
Frederick
Hello,
Can anyone help. My clone tool in gimp 2.10 has become pixelated at the edge when I want a smooth copy of an image. It sometimes works but then becomes pixelated. I recently uploaded a large tiff file to my artwork which seemed to cause the problem but have since deleted the tiff. However, it still keeps happening which means that I cannot clone artwork. Is there something in the clone setting I can alter.
Any help much appreciated.
Hi Guys,
I am a new user of Gimp, and have problems when separating images from backgrounds.
I follow what I think is the correct procedure as follows:
Import a JPG file. Select ‘Add Alpha Channel’. Select ‘Intelligent Scissors’. Use scissors to select portion to be isolated. Select ‘Invert’.
However when I depress CtrL + X, both the selected image and the background is deleted.
Where am I going wrong?
I like to use the path tool to create a selection and then cut the selected area of the image. But for some reason lately, it's cutting sightly beyond my selection. This is only happening with the selections that are converted from a path and I can't figure out why.
After updating to Gimp 2.10 on Mac, I get the following error when opening some XCF files: "GIMP Message: Warning, invalid image parasite in XCF file: ICC profile validation failed: Parasites's flags are not (PERSISTENT | UNDOABLE)".
Since the last update (I'm on Linux Mint 19, with otto-kesselgulasch PPA), all my files in .config plug-ins folder seem to be invisible, except Gmic and InsaneBump.
I've : lot of OfNut files, GatTools, LayerFx, DuplicateLayer to other Images...
All invisible files are Python files.
Any idea ?
(Sorry for my poor english... )
I find solution...
I've to install gimp-python package...
I don't know why it wasn't necessary before... ???
