How to install fonts for gimp only (not other applications)
Posted by: Jacob123 - 12-07-2018, 12:00 AM - Forum: General questions - Replies (2)

So, I love gimp, been using it for 6 years and I love using custom fonts I download.

The only time I use the downloaded fonts are for gimp. When I download the fonts, I install by going to control panel > personalisation > fonts. This means all my other programs get these custom fonts (like in Microsoft word or powerpoint) which is annoying.

How can I install fonts that are only seen and used on on GIMP, not my entire computer.

Windows 8.1
Gimp 2.8

  Color Temperature
Posted by: dinasset - 12-06-2018, 08:37 PM - Forum: General questions - Replies (2)

I was just thinking to apply inside a python filter a change in the color temperature of an image, as it can be done interactively, but I didn't see any pdb interface for this function.
Questions:
-is it there and I simply didn't find it?
-if not, is there a simple routine to copy from someone else who did it? (in "simple" standard gimp python)
Thanks for any info

Information Missing Scripts?
Posted by: Loggy - 12-06-2018, 03:05 PM - Forum: General questions - Replies (4)

I've been trying to find a solution for a while. Whenever I install GIMP, and then go to the Create tab, the option to create things like Logos doesn't appear.
I've tried installing both setup versions, Googling for the scripts, poking around the Plug-in and Procedure Browser. I've installed GIMP before and had the option available. I tried installing it onto Linux and the options were there, but not Windows.
There might be something simple I'm missing but I don't know what (I've even looked at the Help section)

A little help would be smack noice Wink

Big Grin The Sun on a lot of my images!
Posted by: greenhorn4days - 12-05-2018, 07:29 PM - Forum: General questions - Replies (3)

I have taken some pictures and am noticing now that the sun has made a pretty heavy entrance into the images on important parts. Like faces, bodies, etc. I'm looking to see if anyone can suggest an "easy" fix which I'm sure isn't easy. But every tutorial I have kind of found is for an old version of Gimp. I would love to be able to do mass adjustments, but if the solution needs to be done image by image I will be fine also. I'm even up for someone else messing around with it because my eyes have been looking at them for so long I feel crazy! Any help would seriously be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

I'm attaching an example image!

edit psd file programmaticaly without open editor
Posted by: fabricia77 - 12-05-2018, 01:42 PM - Forum: Extending the GIMP - Replies (1)

Is there a way in gimp or other that give me the possibility to edit a PSD file without using and graphic editor and without human interaction ?

For example:

I have a psd file. I want to be able to do this only with a script:

  • open psd file

  • find a specific layer

  • replace this layer with a new layer. The new layer is obtained from a specific image

  • save the new psd documents

  • export the result to pdf file

How To Convert Image To An Icon?
Posted by: abrogard - 12-04-2018, 11:50 PM - Forum: General questions - Replies (4)

I have Gimp 2.10

I want to convert an image to an icon.

I did that alright with some other tools - online web thing.

But I need an icon of <6KB  and the web thing produced something around 30KB.

I need <6 KB and < 90 x 90 px

So I took to Gimp to do something about it but I've finished up getting lost.

I export as .ico after doing the theme thing etc and I got a 768KB file.

Probably this is quick, easy simple task.  I need to ask for help.

Can someone set me straight here please - how to change my .jpg photo file to a an .ico file after selecting a portion of it?  AND have that ico file be less than 10KB ?

Batch Image Manipulation problem involving Color/Curves preset
Posted by: MartinOrtiz - 12-04-2018, 10:40 PM - Forum: Extending the GIMP - Replies (6)

I went to Colors->Curves

I created a color curves preset....and exported that preset to a file.

Now if I open an image, and apply that color->curves with the preset, and export the PNG file out. The image is properly saved with the color curves correction applied.

If I go to
File-> Batch Image Manipulation
Add the Manipulation set,
Color Correction
Check off : "Change Color Corrections From Settings File"
and pick my Color curves preset I saved....

After the batch process, the images I batch processed, the ones exported and saved out to a separate directory, are all whited out images.....

Huh

I attached the curves preset....as a zip file....

  Saving Patterns
Posted by: Michael Nicht - 12-04-2018, 01:46 PM - Forum: General questions - Replies (2)

Hi everyone

I have some problems with saving new patterns in gimp 2.10: I recently bought a new laptop and installed Gimp 2.10 - up till  that point I had always used 2.8. I like the changes, except for the fact that I can't seem to save new patterns with this version. With 2.8, I exported newly made patterns to 'users\username\gimp2.8\patterns', but that doesn't seem to work anymore. So then I read somewhere that you instead have to go to 'C:\Users\your-name\AppData\Roaming\GIMP\2.10\...', but I can't find Appdata in the Users map either - and the Appdata maps I find when just searching in File Explorer don't contain any Gimp items either ... I also can't find the 'data folders' page in 'Preferences' in this version.
Can anybody please help me with this?
Note: You probably already realized it, but I'm a complete amateur when it comes to stuff like this, so excuse me if the question is kinda dumb.  Smile

Thanks in advance!
