Change a specific color by another
Posted by: Gammazeth - 08-08-2019, 12:33 AM - Forum: General questions - Replies (10)

Hi there ! I'm currently using GIMP to recolor some pokemon sprites and I wanted to know if it's possible to change every specific color present on the image by another, for example, I want all paleturquoise pixels to be turned into dark turquoise pixels without having to change manually the color of each pixel. ? If it's not possible, is it possible to select all pixels of a specific color in the image (actually I'm not talking about that magic wand) so that all paleturquoise pixels are highlighted/selected ?
Thanks in advance !

Could not open for Invalid argument - message
Posted by: Slowroller11 - 08-07-2019, 11:43 PM - Forum: General questions - Replies (1)

I found some similar error messages in these forums but not this exact one.  My apology if this has been answered and I didn't find it.   When I export to replace an original image with the manipulated one and I get the message "Could not open (the number of my image file) for writing: Invalid argument".

I have done this thousands of times.  I thought it was the file type which is jpeg.  Reshot it using raw+jpeg and standard.  I tried using some successfully GIMP processed images from a couple weeks ago and got the same message.  This began with a newly downloaded, latest version of GIMP on a fresh install of Windows 7.  I tried installing the same version I had been last using successfully.  Always the same error message.  I'm running a new SSD that doesn't have any problems with the OS or other apps. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Sad

Posted by: musicandart2080 - 08-07-2019, 11:46 AM - Forum: Older Gimp versions (2.8, 2.6....) - Replies (4)

Hi, i'm looking to make an image similar to this;

how would I go about recreating this image ? I understand the parts are a circle with an ellipse inside with horizontal lines and a vertical line. but what is the process achieve everything being mathematically exact with correct proportions and alignment in relation to each other?

  Make Background transparency
Posted by: DaPoeschl - 08-06-2019, 05:30 AM - Forum: General questions - Replies (1)

Hello Guys,

I just started working with Gimp and it's pretty easy - so far. But i got a small Rpobnelm: I Have a layour with only black strips (about 2%) and a white Background. But this Background should be transparency, not white.
According to the Manual, i used the "Color to Alpha" Tool (I don't know, how is called in english. I hope, u understand). So i grapped the color, that's just "ffffff", got the Transaprency Threshold to 0,000 and the opacity threshold to 1,000. But it doesn't work.
What can i do about that?

Have a nice day,
Daniel

Need to rotate image right 90
Posted by: Janitor - 08-04-2019, 07:31 PM - Forum: General questions - Replies (2)

I need to rotate this line drawing of a Brown Bess muzzle loader 90 degrees to the right. I haven't been able to get a background to fit the new dimensions. A little baffled, even manually typing the letters and the image stubbornly stays to the original.

wrapping text round an invisible pipe
Posted by: MikeHersee - 08-04-2019, 07:08 PM - Forum: General questions - Replies (3)

Hi, I've looked at several videos that describe how to distort text in different ways, but none have tried to achieve what I want: As if you have an invisible, horizontal, pipe that you've stuck a text label to, and then looked at it off to one side so you can see the curve in the text. In other words, so that the text is pulled sideways to the right in the middle of each character, as if it was stuck to the side of a pipe.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance,

Mike Hersee

I've just realised an error - it's showing as Gimp version 2.8, which I entered because it was the one I've used most, but I've now got 2.10.12. I can't see how to change that in my profile.

Missing toggle on Dodge/Burn tool in 2.12
Posted by: Ritergeek - 08-04-2019, 04:18 PM - Forum: General questions - Replies (2)

In previous versions of GIMP, I've been able to toggle between dodging and burning with the down arrow by Mode at the top of Tool Options. Since upgrading to 2.12 the entire Mode line is grayed out and the arrow does nothing. I'm stuck in Dodge mode. All other functions perform normally.

If this is a bug, how do I report it?

Help making good maps in Gimp ?
Posted by: RorrKonn - 08-04-2019, 04:50 AM - Forum: General questions - Replies (5)

[attachment=3049][attachment=3049]If I paint a texture in Gimp. Save 8 bit I get the odd lines,
but if I save in 32 bit I do not get the odd lines.
But if I take the 32 bit gimp image and make maps with Bounding Box Materialize. I get the odd lines again.

So I'm thinking I'm not saving the Gimp image correctly.
Does anyone know how to make textures correctly in Gimp ? or any app ?
I've been fighting with this for days n not really sure where to ask this.
but there has to be a answer some where.
Thanks for any and all help

Where is icon to start gimp when installed with macports
Posted by: rbmisc - 08-02-2019, 02:24 AM - Forum: OSX - Replies (2)

I have installed gimp 2.10 with macports because I was unable to get it to run from the gimp 2.10 download.

Now that it has been installed by macports, how can I run it by selecting it in my Applications file?  I have to open terminal and enter gimp on the command line to get it to run at this time.

I have macOS Mojave 10.14.6.
