  Hillustrative script-fu error
Posted by: Chuanist - 03-16-2019, 03:37 PM - Forum: Extending the GIMP - Replies (6)

Dear All—

I run GIMP on two Macs, in El Capitan (Mac OS 10.11.6). I realize most GIMP users are not Mac heads... Rolleyes

An article on hyper-realistic photos (link is in the next paragraph) on Pixls.us really caught my interest. However, when I downloaded and installed the script to produce the frequency separation layers: hillustrative-2.8.scm, only one layer gets created in GIMP 2.9 and 2.10. Then it crashes.

See: https://pixls.us/articles/highlight-bloo...tion-look/

The script can be downloaded here: http://www.machead.info/scripts/hillustrative-2.8.scm

I wonder if  anyone has experienced this?

These events take place  upon running the Script-Fu script Hillustrative:

The Blur layer is created, then:

Error:

GIMP Message

Execution error for ‘Hillustrative’;

Error: event: unbound variable: plut-in-gmic

Upon closing this error message, another error message is revealed underneath it:

GIMP Message

‘Hillustrative’ left image undo in unbound state: closing open undo groups.

  Gimp with wavelet sharpen plugin
Posted by: throast - 03-16-2019, 01:45 PM - Forum: OSX - Replies (1)

Hello,

I'd used an unofficial version of Gimp that already contained the wavelet sharpen plugin for quite a while now. Assuming that the tool would be included in the new official 2.10 versions, I figured I'd use the new one and deleted the version I used previously. I'm noticing that wavelet sharpen was actually never a pre-set tool in any official release, at least for Mac. Installing the plugin manually doesn't work, I've tried everything, so now I'm desperately searching for that unofficial version but I can't find it anywhere. Does anyone know the version I'm talking about or how to properly install the plugin?

Thanks!

  Tablet not working for gimp
Posted by: Sammydewie - 03-15-2019, 10:45 PM - Forum: General questions - Replies (1)

Hi, I'm new to gimp and would really like to get into digital art. The problem is, i can't get my pen to move on the program. it just sticks to one place on the canvas and doesn't move anywhere, even though i'm moving my actual pen. I have the drivers installed on my Huion H610PRO. I just got it last christmas and I haven't been using it since then because of this. There's nothing wrong with the tablet, or my computer. Can someone please me before I put digital art away from me?

Choosing to learn Python-Fu or Script-Fu for a simple script
Posted by: BrianJ - 03-15-2019, 05:48 PM - Forum: Scripting questions - Replies (3)

Hello, I want to use GIMP to extract 200 small images from a set of larger images, which are uniformly structured. I have figured out how to use image_select_rectangle to do the initial selection, in both Python fu and Script fu, though in Python I am still working on learning the syntax to identify [Image] correctly.

I need to flush out a script that will copy the selection to a new file and save it to a folder, with an incremented filename each time.

I will also need to write a bit of code to update the x,y coordinates of the corner of each selection, which are 4x5 groups of 5x2 images (200 total images). I have basic programming skills but I haven't really used them in several decades - I learned C++ when it was - BRAND NEW.

So I am wondering which of the two scripting modules will be easier to use to write a small/short routine to increment the x,y value for each selection from the larger image?

A hint towards the basic increment variable routine that would be used to increment the parameters in image_select_rectangle would certainly speed things up. As would the needed syntax on incrementing the file name on the output call. Any tips would be much appreciated.

gimp crashes when it tries to find newly installed font
Posted by: soursop - 03-15-2019, 02:54 PM - Forum: Linux and other Unixen - Replies (4)

I'd like to get an emoji font for my Gimp 2.8 on Linux Mint 19.1. So I downloaded https://github.com/MorbZ/OpenSansEmoji and copied to /usr/share/fonts/truetype/ . when I try to find the font in the dropdown list, gimp gives this error:

Quote:~ $ gimp

How can I fix?

  Preserving EXIF
Posted by: Turn2Linux - 03-15-2019, 07:47 AM - Forum: General questions - Replies (5)

I recently joined the GIMP community, after years of Paint.net.

Somehow the EXIF of my photos is not preserved either when importing my JPG or exporting them
(Preference> Import/Export > checked the preserve EXIF)

I know there was a problem for Pentax users, but I use Sony and have the same problem.

Any help will be appreciated.

  G'MIC on Mac Chugs Forever
Posted by: Chuanist - 03-14-2019, 03:29 PM - Forum: General questions - Replies (2)

I am running GIMP 9.5 color corrected on Mac OS 10.11.6.

The G'MIC-Qt filters are of great interest to me. But when I open G'MIC and select an effect, then choose either Apply or OK, the plug-in processes endlessly. Yesterday the fractal effect 'worked' for over 30 minutes on a 24 mb photo file. I then cancelled the command because it obviously was not going to resolve itself.

Is there something I need to know to get the filters to work?

Many thanks for your consideration.

  Colouring a scanned pdf picture
Posted by: adam_b2019 - 03-14-2019, 08:04 AM - Forum: General questions - Replies (4)

Hi,

I have scanned some hand drawn black and white pictures and saved them as PDF files. I am colouring them in using GIMP with a view to have them printed as greeting cards.

When bucket filling in areas there is an outline of 3 to 4 pixels that haven't been filled. They are a mixture of grey tones. I'm assuming this because the drawing was done using an ink pen and has then been scanned.

I'm having to use the pencil tool in GIMP to fill in the outline around each coloured area...it's incredibly time consuming. Is there any way to select pixels that are all of the same colour then change them to white? Or can anyone think of a solution?

Thank you Smile

"Tool Options" dialog does not dock
Posted by: orbanp - 03-13-2019, 10:16 PM - Forum: Older Gimp versions (2.8, 2.6....) - Replies (5)

Hello Everyone,

I have been running GIMP 2.8.22 under WXP SP3 for some time.

Unfortunately I accidentally "undocked" the Tool Options dialog from the Toolbox and can not re-dock it again.

I tried to drag and drop the Tool Options dialog onto the area on the tool box as was indicated, to no avail.
Configuring the Tool Options tab did not make any difference either, it showed the "Lock tab to Dock" setting check-marked .
Resetting the Tool Options in the preferences to the default values did not work either.
I also tried to reinstall the whole app, it still remembered the un-docked state of the Tool Options dialog.

Just wondering, what gives?

I also have some minor problem of the app focusing on the right window, but I can work around that.
I am wondering if that is somehow behind it.

Is there a key-word in some set-up file that I could change, or editing something in the registry would help?
Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks, Peter
