Hi! I'm a beginner to scripting in Gimp (I'm using Python-Fu) and have a quick question to see if what I want to script is even possible. 

I want to be able to create my own selection technique that colors pixels based on a users paintbrush input. (The painted pixels would then be used to draw the segmentation.) I've done some digging in the PDB but have been getting stuck when it comes to obtaining this type of user input (I know you can pass in a paintbrush as a basic parameter but am not sure how you would be able to keep track of where a user has painted on an image). 

Does anyone 1) know if this is possible and 2) would be able to point me in the right direction if it is? Thank you so much.

Been using Gimp for a couple of years and have a basic understanding of using Layer Masks. I’ve got a photo (see attachment), of a plane. I need to change the color of the plane, no problem. But I also need to tone down the orange in the background sky. Simply, I need to separate the plane from the sky so I can work on each separately and then merge the images.
I could probably come up with a way to do this but, as usual for me, I’d “over engineer” the process. A simple solution would be much appreciated.

Trying to update and organize two computers.  One is 32 bit and one is 64 bit.  Many plug-ins and scripts but have no way of knowing which they are until I try it out on a 32 bit and find out it will not work as it is a 64.  Is there any way of looking at the code to find something that lets you know which it is.  Also, add to that the problem that many will work on 2.8 Gimp but not the 2.10.  Is there any notation in the programs at all to let you know which it is?

When it comes to importing a RAW image in Gimp 2.10.x there is not much choice. The developers favour RawTherapee and Darktable and that is about it. Both quite large, stand-alone applications.

There is provision in the Gimp code for other applications to work and as far as I know, only nufraw has this enabled.  While I use nufraw in Linux (kubuntu 18.04 / Gimp 2.10.12) not much provision for Windows users.

The Partha version of Gimp 2.10.12 (64 bit only) contains the nufraw plugin, so one way is install that version,  it does a separate install to the regular Gimp 2.10.x. You can have both, if you want.

If you want to keep just  your regular gimp.org Gimp installation the attached zip contains just the nufraw Gimp plugin.

Download, unzip put the whole nufraw folder in C:\Users\"yourname"\AppData\Roaming\GIMP\2.10\plug-ins

In use: The regular Gimp File -> Open selects the file and it opens with nufraw. For a quick 'into Gimp', set the Output to 16 bit and click the green 'ok' tick icon.

   

Tried out in a Win10/Gimp 2.10.12 and generally seems to work ok. The usual guarantee, there is none. What does not work - Lens Correction and I have left the locale files out. I have no way of checking those anyway.

Installed Rawtherapee recently for editing raw nikon files. It can do a lot of things available in GIMP.

Instead of using Rawtherapee first and then GIMP on editing an image, prefer to just stick to GIMP.

If GIMP has editing work scope of 8 (0-10), where is Rawtherapee?

Hope one day, one can import raw file directly into GIMP.

A little script to generate animations of a moving dash pattern along a path:

   

   

As the title says, I wanna add text on a GIF. As for the position, I want to both add text on the GIF itself, and also on top of the GIF (in a white background). But I'm confused as to how to do it. Any help will be appreciated.
