Hi,
I am new to this forum, and look forward to learning a lot here - you all seem to be very knowledgeable.
I have started using GIMP (2.10) in the last few days, resuming my acquaintanceship with graphics software after a break of several years.
All was going well - was practicing cloning, and a few other things - when the deselect command stopped working (when I tried both Select-None, and Shift-Ctrl-A).
I have been working with different layers, or only one layer.
I just read a thread on this forum by Ofnuts ( Painless Use Of Selection Tools ) in which Ofnuts talks about the advantages of saving changes to channels, so that is useful to know about, but I would like to be able to deselect.
Does anyone have any ideas?

when i first open gimp and then go to "open" and open a file with photos in it and then click on any particular photo i do not get a preview of that photo. the message is "cannot create preview". this function worked on my old gimp, but since i down loaded 2.10 this function is not available. i have windows 10. i think this problem may have something to do with windows and i have tried to solve the problem through "settings" and "folder" options, but without any luck. if anyone has a suggestion i would appreciate it. thanks.

i have to create a entire relationship model for a db - and i need to do this with some modifications and enhancements - ie. some additions.
what if i have a allready created set of data - that needs to be enhanced and adapted - how to do that!?

Bonjour,
I installed gimp 2.10 with flatpak because this gimp version is not yet available on my distro.
I want to call darktable to open raw files, but the only plugin appearing in the import images tab is "raw-file-placeholder".
file-darktable is furnished in the plug-ins but no way is given to use it instead of raw-file-placeholder. How can I configure gimp to use the darktable plugin?

Hello everyone,
I've been using Gimp (2.8) for many years and just a week ago I decided to move to the new version 2.10, I like the new design and that there's several tools that have been simplified or compacted into 1. However, I usually have 2 very common and uncomfortable bugs that didn't happen to me with the previous version.
I tried to search Online (in case it was a common problem before version 2.8 or something) for help to solve them but I didn't find anything that could help me to solve them, so I decided to register in the forum and ask for help. I hope it will help me and future users who have the same problem.
- Enter Location doesn't works.

No matter how many images I try, since I jumped to version 2.10 I can no longer import any images from its URL.
I always end with this error message.

- Copy + Past an exterior Image doesn't works.
Normally I don't have any problem (in version 2.10) in copying an image (outside of Gimp) with the simple right button > Copy Image and then paste it into Gimp and use it as I need it, this works well until after a while.... After a while if I try to paste an image that I've just finished of copying from the Internet to paste it into Gimp I only get the piece that I copied into Gimp previously. I mean, it paste a snip I made in the Gimp application.
I thought I might need to make sure I had the copied image to be ready into the clipboard, so instead of trying to copy the image directly with the right click, I decided to use a program called Lightshot (very handy for making screenshots by the way) to crop the image, copy it to the clipboard and paste it into Gimp, but I kept pasting only the last piece I'd cut out IN Gimp.
If I try to go to an online image pasting website or even a simple image editing program like Paint right after that, I'd still would work as it should (pasting the image I've just copied or cropped with Lightshot)
The latter is probably the most annoying of the two and I have no idea how to fix it.

Quote:hello. I just bought a new tablet and here's what happened. I opened gimp with it but the option for the tablet was greyed out. It wouldn't use my tablet as the input device. So I restarted gimp several times., I installed the update, still nothing. I deleted the input option for my tablet hoping it would reconnect correctly, but now the tablet option is just gone, even after I uninstalled and reinstalled gimp. What can i do?

I’llI’m Hi.
Hoping someone can help.
I’ve been running Gimp 2.8 with no issue & I’m now trying to install 2.10 but on loading up I get the following message
gmic_gimp_qt.exe - entry point not found
The procedure point g_file_test could not be located in the dynamic link library C:\programme files\gimp2\bin\libgmodule-2.0-0.dll
Gimp still opens but I can’t seem to install GMIC at all.
Any help will be very much appreciated.
