I'm a noobie to Gimp, when I 'Export AS..' I have to manually change the file suffix if I want to save as a different file format - is this normal? There is no selection list to choose the file format. I'm using v2.10.36 on a Mac

How to get TIFF file with 8 bit color depth |

Hello. My goal is to submit a TIFF file with the highest quality possible to Nations Photo Lab for printing. The website for Nations Photo Lab says that the file submitted must have 8 bit color depth. I have read conflicting reports about the color depth of files exported from GIMP. My question is: as a GIMP user, what do I need to do in order to get a TIFF file of a picture with 8 bit color depth? Thank you.

How to make a selection on a 16bit grayscale of only the darkest pixelspixels |

So there is an issue perhaps due to hardware limitations and large images that I cannot click on a pixel of pure black, 0, and use Select By Color with a threshold of 1 to create a selection of all pixels between 0 and 1. I need to select all those pixels in the image with shades of 0.7 and 0.9 for instance. And once selected use the bucket fill to make them all equal to 0
Or at least I need to be able to make all of those pixels between 0 and 1 = 0 by another method. So is there another option open to me? How can I achieve this?
Thanks

Is there a way to make a "multi-layer brush" or something like that? |

For example, I have a brush that is a clipart of a tree. I'll paint it many times over on an image.
But each time I paint it, I'll also need to later separate the trunk, leaves and shadow each into a different layer.
Is there anyway to make a brush that automatically paint into three different layers, a different part of the brush into each of these layers?
